I don't have the car yet and I don't know what difference does this make over stock.
I watched the matt watson video and still didnt get it.

Can anyone advise on what I need this for?

If you're an auto driver and never use the paddles, don't buy this.

If however you enjoy using the paddles then these change the feel of how the paddles work and theor relative position to your fingers on the wheel.

The OEM paddles are constructed using a rubber diaphragm and pcb mounted press switches.





What this design inevitably leads to use is an excessive amount of play before the pcb switch (and thus the gear change) is actuated.
Personally I find that imprecise and woolly.

The JQW items use a different actuating mechanism with a magnetic return which gives a sharp, precise movement of the paddle when you shift.

Think digital vs analogue.

Also the JQW mechanism design has fore/aft and lateral adjustment that affords adjustability to where the paddles sit relative to your fingers on the wheel. Given we all have different hand sizes, this is a terrific part of their design.

Overall these really do change the driver's interaction with the paddles and manual gear changes.

Installation is straightforward but requires removal of the steering wheel. There are several, excellent posts around here which I sued to do mine. Took under and hour.
