Hi. I have a non sportchrono 2020 base 992. Has anyone retrofitted the dash clock? I know it won't do anything but display the time but I like the look. Does anyone know how to get power to the clock? I have the oem wiring harness. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If you are planning on adding sport chrono, you will need more than power - the OEM clock sets off the system time and is controllable from the PCM. It has a CAN buss connection. My guess is that your dash harness doesn't have the wires already in place, so you would need to splice into the CAN buss and also power - relatively simple, but would require digging around in the dash harness. I have most of the wiring diagrams for the 992, so let me see if I can find the one covering the sport chrono clock / dash harness.
BTW, I have both a white face and yellow face 992 OEM clock if you are interested that I changed to the Porsche Design clocks. . .PM me if interested.
Here's the wiring diagram - from this, it looks like it's a "dongle" that plugs in somewhere under the dash. That would make it very easy. Next time I'm at my Wyoming shop, I have a 992 GT3 torn apart, and I'll see if I can snap a few photos of where the wires from the clock plug into . . . .
