Hi! I finally got an allocation for 992 Turbo Cab ❤️
I know that people here are extremely knowledgable and helpful so I thought I would ask you one of the most important questions I have
I want a dark car with matte/satin paint finish. Black is too black, and Agate Grey is too light for me, but I like how Agate gets the brown shades sometimes (especially with brown interior that I've chosen). If I could, I would probably choose Volcano Grey, but it's out of scope, as it would make me wait additional months, if not years for the car Basically, I want to get an effect similar to these (photos found in Google):
Especially, I love the latter one, it has some brownish shades, however, this might be caused by color correction on this photo.
And here are questions:
1. Should I get Agate Grey (I still have a couple of days to chose the color of the car), darken it a little bit with some kind of darkening matte PPF? Do such darkening PPFs even exist? Or maybe should I get black one and get matte / satin PPF that will disperse the light so much that it will make the car look brighter?
2. In both cases (from question one), which PPF would you recommend? I've browsed tons of threads here with different opinions, but I haven't found an unambiguous answer of which PPF would be best if I want to get the described effect.
@SS22 thank you so much for the reply! I was looking at this option, but many pics I've found were way darker than the ones I posted in my question. For example, this one is Xpel stealth on a black 911 and it's way darker, this is not the effect I want to get
I think you should just get a regular black car and vinyl wrap it to whatever color you'd like. There is no very dark gray/black color available without PTS and PPF on black or agate grey will not give you the hue you are looking for. Black cars are easiest to vinyl wrap because they don't have to be perfect with every single edge.
They make black PPF, but I am not aware of a tinted but transluscent PPF that darkens an existing color.

@AlterZgo Oh, that might be a wrap indeed, didn't think of it, thank you! @SS22 Thanks a lot for this link. It's beautiful, but it doesn't look like the last photo from my first post. I don't know what's the exact difference, but it's very different. @detansinn Thank you so much for the reply! @audi4t Oh, that's interesting. I was looking for them, but haven't found any of such products tbh.
Anyway, assuming this is a wrap - do you know what could be the exact name of the wrap from the last photo from the first post? It's really dark, but lighter than black.
To my knowledge, there are no ppf that are satin and tinted…it’s either gloss clear or satin clear
With that said, each satin/matte ppf has its own slight unique characteristics
XPEL Stealth - has a shimmer satin appearance…almost like there’s a little metallic to it
3M Matte - it’s a true matte finish…dull but has the protection you’d expect from ppf
Suntek PPF Ultra - satin Sheen…so it’s in between XPEL and 3M
those are the three I’ve installed over the years and personally prefer the Suntek for its appearance, it’s just a little tougher to install because the adhesive isn’t as grabby and it doesn’t want to ”stick” to curvy or aggressive shapes consistently, but you can make it work
the adhesive if the 3M/XPEL was really nice …wish I could have the adhesive of 3M with the look of Suntek
get the color paint you like and put the matte/satin ppf on…it’ll look very nice if done correctly
hope this helps

@MoeMistry it's very helpful, thank you so much for spending the time to write it. It's something I didn't know about the differences between these brands. No I only need to discover which wrap color (and brand) should I chose to get the color of the car from the last picture
