I'm trying to track down yet another rattle and I found these 2 silver metal hoses/pipes running from the fire wall above the brake and accelerator to the rear of the center console.

The pipes are hot. Anyone know what they are.?

I suspect those are the coolant inlet and exit lines to the heater core.

Is it normal to be so hot when the cars been off for a while? Could barely touch em. Cars been off a couple hours

I believe what you're experiencing is normal, especially if you have had interior heat selected on.

Why not try slipping a rectangular piece of inner tube between the two pipes and wire tie into place. This might at least identify your rattle. I wouldnt think metal heater hose lines should be touching as it will eventually wear a hole in one or both lines. You can always replace the inner tube with a piece of rubber or plastic hose slit long ways and wire tie. This would last a really long time.
