Default LED Matrix Subjective pole

If opportunity arose where you could have your LED Matrix headlights activated by someone other than Porsche, what would you be willing to pay? Please keep in mind the entity performing this activation would have to have their own equipment (PIWIS III, VCI, Powersource etc) and may need to travel to your location so don't forget travel costs. Expected time to perform the change could be upwards of 5 or 6 hours.

Who would pick 2. or 3. If 1. is an option?

I wonder why people order them I you cannot use them here? Is there some hope that someday they will be enabled?

Yes. It'll only be by a hacker any time soon. I'm assuming that's what this poll is about.

As a data point, I can tell you it costs $100-150 to have this done on a BMW. Including the Porsche tax...$250-300 would probably be the right ballpark. Remember that this coding can be lost if the car is taken in for service and the dealer updates certain modules.

I'd only consider paying those prices if it's actually from the dealer. Not a chance with third party.

True, but then again some just wanted the lights for looks. I think whoever does this will know their internal costs but not what the market will bare and if it would cover their costs. Personally, I'd spend 1200-1500 but that will be for everything. I like the lights for their brightness. If Matrix could be activated for a reasonable (to me) cost, I would most likely pursue.

If I had a good idea, say an actual video comparing the car with, and without the matrix…and they offered a significant lighting performance advantage, I would pay ~1200 to get them coded.

Price seems arbitrary and very high for 15 minutes of coding

You forgot Option #6: I did NOT buy these headlights since I a) live in the USA when they weren't even a valid consideration (2020), and b) since our government hasn't been able to eliminate Daylight Savings Time since Congress was founded, why would I expect them to do something quickly concerning more sophisticated technology?

Even if it takes 6 hours, 900 plus travel is outrageous. $150/hr to click some buttons in PIWIS. Dealer techs are cheaper by the hour! I also don’t see how it could take so long. The software engineer in me thinks it’s at most a couple hours of changing some values and nvflashing. The longer a guy is sitting there clicking around with a laptop, the less confidence I have in the maturity of their process and likelihood of permanent success.

This. It's more like an hour of labor. $500 would be too expensive. I'd probably pay that, maybe even $750, but the pricing in your poll is downright silly. It costs less than a fancy dinner to have this done on BMWs and Mercs.

Would pay dealer $500, not aftermarket where next Porsche software update could override.

Given the premium price (I know there was a disclaimer), added safety value Porsche should do right thing and update the software. IMO
