Default Cost of Service

My 992 has 11k miles and I’m going into second year of ownership. I understand oil changes need to be performed every year it doesn’t matter the mileage that is fine but my dealer is quoting me 2,000 $ because the 20k mile maintanance is due. Is this normal ?

Well, it may be normal for them. At two years it’s oil service, brake fluid flush (if so inclined - can skip if not tracking the car and do it at four years) and pollen filters. Total parts costs using OEM parts and top grade oil such as Liquid Moly is around $ 270. Labor is about 2 hours for oil and pollen filters, maybe less. I do my own, but have to think an Independent would be considerably less.

Does it matter to warranty , future value etc if you don't service at a Porsche dealer or not ? I guess I could go to an independent but certified Porsche mechanic right ?

no, it does not void your warranty. Save your receipts or if you DIY, your parts invoices. I pull my own wrenches on all my vehicles (includes three Porsches) and I maintain a service binder for each of them. No one has ever balked on a resale because of that, not even Porsche dealers on trade in.

They used to ask oil change every 3,000 miles or 3 months, cars did not last very long then...
