I was talking to a State Trooper once, and long story short, he said if he had his way he'd write tickets to everyone going 1mph over the speed limit and he was dead serious. Like I said, scumbags-the lot of them.
I get it, but we are a society of laws. Selective compliance leads to, well you know. One solution I found to work with regards to tint is to comply with the law. After my first fine for tint that was too dark I did that and the scumbags have started to leave me alone.

I think it would be more accurate to say you prefer it in a hot climate.

I live in one of the hottest climates in the country and I don't tint my cars and don't miss it.

I hear what you're saying, and I'm guessing that for most of your life, and probably the vast majority of Rennlisters, you haven't had many dealings with the Authorities beyond some kind of traffic ticket. For me, it's been much different. I've been dealing with those jokers since I was 15 years old and have a deep knowledge and understanding of how they operate. And let's just say I'm a little biased and against who and what they are. Not all of them, but almost. So it's tough to lump me in with all the normal people and simply say to follow the law without a backlash. I'd rather they check my driving skills and just bill me $500 or a $1,000 bucks per year, give me a sticker for my license plate, and let me drive. That I would respect. Did you know that most of the patrol cars you see on the road have 8 cameras scanning different things constantly? I swear they get their jollies handing out tickets. And I know there's the "they do a dangerous job" crowd. But to that I say, who forced them to become cops? I could go on all day about it, and I apologize for the rant. It just hits a nerve sometimes.

Depends on age and health too.
I'm 77 with a skin condition. Heat blocking tint and ventilated seats as well as a sunroof to quickly cool the car are must haves for me in Central FL.
All 3 of my dress hade all 3 options.
Top of the line tints are not expensive, and will help preserve your interior, unless you only take you car out after dark.
Think about it for a bigger resale market too.

I have bought several used Porsches and either rule out tinted cars or request tint removal as part of the sale. Many times tint is removed as part of reconditioning a car for the showroom floor. Walk through your Porsche dealership, it's rare to see a tinted car that has been prepped and put on the floor.

I fully understand why some like it. But it's very much personal preference and like most mods I doubt if it adds anything to used car appeal or value.

Personally my car goes from an enclosed air conditioned garage at home to covered parking at work.

You live in California. I don't consider most of California to be the level of hot I'm referring to. You mentioned your car travels from one climate controlled garage to another. That's not my reality. I go to restaurants, shopping, meetings, to visit friends, on roadtrips, etc. and most places don't have climate controlled garages. Most have outdoor parkinglots.

I can't fathom what issue someone would have with 70% tint that is nearly transparent, but okay.

100% this. I lived in California for nearly 30 years, Southern California to be exact, and there was no way I wasn't going to have some tint on my front windows. It gets sunny and hot there! I just had very light tint to not draw any legal attention. Not that hard. I get that the looks of tinted windows is a personal preference, but some of this hate...dang! Like do some people need to show a therapist on the doll where window tint hurt them? It's already been mentioned multiple times that window tint comes in a variety of light transmission levels but yet people still pop on hating on all tint when chances are, they've probably seen plenty of cars in varying degrees tint and have no idea that it's tinted.

Just for the record I live in Fresno which is the 5th hottest city in the US. It is not SoCal hot, it's Death Valley hot, in the summers at least. Regardless, totally understand why people want tint, I'm simply making the point that it's not required in a hot climate, unless perhaps you park your car outside a lot, which I do not.

I'm not a fan of dark tint on cars anymore... Put 35% on my wife's escalade and that's the darkest i've done since high school. I'm all for 50% or so to add some additional heat blocking. But for me I really like the look of the interior being visible from the exterior.

The last two cars I purchased, one Porsche the other Land Rover, came with the windows already tinted as part of a package of stuff I had to buy to get the car. I would rather have the windows tinted myself because I would use a much better ceramic tint that what they probably used. I would also chose a color to match the rear windows. It gets very hot where I live so the tinting is a must have, there are a lot of car break-ins here so making it harder to see inside the car is necessary.

Your car looks amazing, the color just flows. My eyes are OK (wearing my glasses), I'm trying to determine if the color of your car is (Adventurine Green) and if the wheels are nearly the same color? Whatever the case, the colors flow just right in this pic. I like it enough that, if you get a chance, you don't mind sharing more pics. I appreciate it. I was tempted to get the Adventurine Green.

Yeah Fresno is like the sun. 115 in summer is not unheard of.

Put me in the tasteful ceramic tint camp though.
