Homelink

Hi All,

I overlooked ordering Homelink, the remote garage and gate opener, on my car - 992 GTS which is scheduled for Feb delivery. So many options on the configurator I was bound to miss something.

Anyone know if it’s possible to retrofit this and if so what did it cost? it’s a £200 option from factory

For those who have and use it, does it work well and is it reliable or is it not worth bothering about?

thanks!

This is a standard feature on USA GTS cars.

yes, it is a standard feature in the USA. If you can get it added inexpensively then I would say do it because the PCM6 version works well, and you can assign it to a button on your steering wheel or console. If not, just use a remote.

I just picked up my new GTS cab yesterday and have been reading the manual since.. I recall you can set Homelink up to work automatically based on GPS location of the devise you want opened. I plan on setting it up that way for my gate and garage door.

Thanks guys, why Porsche don’t offer it as standard in UK I don’t know :(

I’m speak to my OPC and see if they can do something and cost. For sake of 200 bucks wish I’d added it. Damn.

Scuderia - many congrats on the new car, just in time for the new year, enjoy!!

Not quite automatic operation.

You can set a GPS location which will then automatically initiate the homelink window on your pcm screen.

You still have to select to activate.

I select homelink operation of my garage door using the diamond button on the steering wheel.

Congrats on your new car! Where are the pictures? If you fiigure out how to do the Homelink install for your gate and garage, would you mind doing mine while you're at it? Besides being mechanically-challenged, I'm also technically-challenged. You want to know about car cleaning/protection and/or driving technique I'm your guy. We could trade if you want. Lemme know. Thanks!

Its been raining since I got the car. Suppose to be sunny tomorrow. We have a long drive planned so should be able to get some photos then. I'm not tech savvy either. The wife is my IT person and this is her car anyway so she will set up Homelink. I've been working on set up while its been sitting in the garage. Thanks for the offer but no need for detailing or driving tips. I raced a 911 for 10 years with PCA & NASA. Also instructed a little. Have you raced? If so what and were?

Much respext for your abilities. Just street racing for me. Fruits of a misspent youth growing up in Detroit. Long, long story and not appropriate to post here.

If you should get the urge to video how your wife sets the Homelink up and post it, I for one would be very grateful.

I've never had any luck with Homelink in any of my Porsches since 2013. I would love a video as well.
My gate remote is still "registered" in the PCM but it never works. There's another recent thread on this and, when I was out the other day, I tried the "quick press" that was supposed to cure my issues, but. Nada. It works on my wife's new A6, but it's so touchy (unless you hit it perfectly it must send out multiple signals and the gate then closes itself before opening fully) that I put a remote on the visor in it also.

Operation of Homelink in my 2022 992 was temperamental.

In my 2023 992 Homelink works fine - I control opening and closing with the diamond button on the steering wheel.

I did set up the gps feature to open the Homelink “widget” on the pcm screen as I approach my home. This works consistently but I don’t open the garage door using the touch screen so I should deactivate this feature.

Dude it works in my Panamera flawlessly! It's just the 911 that's such a pain in the butt. Oof.

i hated pcm on my 2020 car. door handle would not open and resorted to clicker for garage door.
on my 2022 the door handle opens when i approach the car and homelink works everytime. the homelink button comes up on side of the screen when you back up car so no need to go to park to get camera screen to dissapear to find the button.

Good to hear tech has improved.

Do porsche install anything “physical” in the car for homelink or is it all software controlled by PCM?

I am thinking about a retro fit so would like to know if they’ll need to install anything in the car or just make software changes

Mine works all the time...I have shortcut button programmed to Homelink so it pops up about 100 yards from home...another thing that I figured out was to just press the screen a quick touch, not hold touch.....YouTube has excellent video
