Comfort entry issues

Comfort entry and access work perfectly on my new 2022 2SMT cab: when I approach the car with the fob in my pocket the door handles extend and unlock, even when I had locked the car before.
However, comfort access did not work well at all on my prior 2020 base cab and I came to learn after I sold it that there has been a software upgrade that seemed to fix it that I had somehow not gotten.
So maybe worth looking into that.

Thanks for all the feedback. I actually don’t think at you need to create separate identities for each key (after going through that though). Also to be clear it’s not a battery thing at this point: that’s been changed. It really is that the sensor in the door is super finicky. Also, once you’ve approached the car it you F up the initial door handle touch, you have to back away to come back and get the key to Reinitiate an attempt at comfort access. What a mess!! Btw the dealer told me that they did the software upgrade for this last week. I think this explains why the newer cars went to just unlocking on approach.
Frankly amazing that every other manufacturer solved this a decade ago…yes including in my Italian 2017 Alfa where it’s flawless (unless you have your iPhone in the same pocket)

Comfort Access is garbage on these cars. Constant and consistent issues even service advisors are like "ehhhh.. maybe software update will make it better in the future."
I've had ZERO issues with BMW's comfort access.

* I did own six BMW cars before I gave up on that brand (535, M3, 750, 330, X5, X4)

*I lied - I guess my 1M is older than 4 years I've had the charge pipe blow up - that's it (and normal).

I changed my Comfort Access setting to pick me up from further away. It helps. But it also creates the annoying scenario where I'm outside near the car, like at a car show, and the car keeps "seeing" me and unlocking the doors, only to lock them again 30 seconds later. It's stupid. I much prefer they just work on touch, BUT ACTUALLY WORK. My Cayman is flawless, as is my Ford!

I agree that the door handles popping out is annoying. The other day, I went to get in, they popped out, but when I put my hand under it, within seconds, they retracted.
The car was giving me the cold shoulder!
As for the seat, my seat does slide back and forth for entry. I like that.
I do have the power steering wheel and I've never noticed it moving upon entry of the vehicle.

My is a MY21 Jan build and my comfort access is flawless - I think it’s roughly that timeframe that Porsche improved on a lot of the early niggles.
I also enabled remote open / close of the windows and sunroof using PIWIS so it works exactly like my old 10 year old BWM 335, lol.

I’ve never had a car with comfort access that didn’t work with a 100% reliability including rentals. How is it that Porsche put this not ready for prime time prototype system into a 911? They should have bought the IP from Hyundai! On a positive note if you ever want to Lemon Law the car you have an ace in the hole.
