Comfort entry issues

There could be an issue w/ your key fob because my key is kept in a drawer about 10 feet away from the car in the garage and it's been 16 months without needing battery replacement or having any issues at all. I leave my car unlocked if that makes any difference.

H-m-m-m-m-m maybe that's it. I always lock mine so that the mirrors fold in to maximize the room when walking by the car.. Theoretically it's a 3 car garage, but I think that's only if you don't need to actually open the doors of the cars. LOL

Does your car have the ‘early MY20’ or the ‘late MY20’ comfort access? As in, does it try to extend the door handles was you approach - like later MY’s do - or wait for you to place your hand under the door handle before extending it?
Mine is the latter, it’s a March 2020 build and the comfort access is very reliable. At first I had issues finding exactly where the sensors are on the door handle (and it’s much fussier than it needs to be on that count) but once I learnt that it’s been fine. The seat and steering wheel always do the retract / extend dance as well.
That being said, I only use one key and generally no-one else drives the car.

I know we shouldn't have to do these dances, the CA on my BMW M8 is not finicky at all and works flawlessly every time with no special motions.

My dealer put StarGuard on my 2021 911. Comfort access worked perfectly everywhere but in my underground garage. The Porsche tech said he remembered in the past that some GPS systems ramp up the power to get a good signal. In the garage it overpowered the Comfort access. I had it removed and it has worked perfectly since.

Our BMW is the same. I tell my wife, that if I'd driven her BMW before I bought my 911 . . . . . . . Porsche could learn a thing or two about the proper functioning of electronic wizards from their execution on her BMW.

Agreed, without fail, approaching our X5 with the key fob in your pocket chirps the alarm, unlocks the doors, and at night activates the puddle lights below the doors. Impressive. Of course, that can be deactivated in settings.

ditto Andy - except I find that when I leave the car sitting untouched for several days it seems to go into 'sleep mode' (to save battery?). I just touch the underside of the handle with my fingertips for 2 seconds and they 'wake up' and pop out and then operate as above.
