You can’t leave the key close to the car when not in use it will kill the key battery. My car is 2 years old on original battery still perfect.

I keep my Key in a Faraday Cage specifically to isolate it from the car.

There could be an issue w/ your key fob because my key is kept in a drawer about 10 feet away from the car in the garage and it's been 16 months without needing battery replacement or having any issues at all. I leave my car unlocked if that makes any difference.

H-m-m-m-m-m maybe that's it. I always lock mine so that the mirrors fold in to maximize the room when walking by the car.. Theoretically it's a 3 car garage, but I think that's only if you don't need to actually open the doors of the cars. LOL

I leave my car unlocked too and just press the mirror button to fold them in.

Mine is the latter, it’s a March 2020 build and the comfort access is very reliable. At first I had issues finding exactly where the sensors are on the door handle (and it’s much fussier than it needs to be on that count) but once I learnt that it’s been fine. The seat and steering wheel always do the retract / extend dance as well.

That being said, I only use one key and generally no-one else drives the car.
I have a February, 2020 build and my CA operates just like yours. I have found that if you bring your hand palm up from below the handle and extend your fingers into the slot with a sweeping motion, the doors unlock every time. Also, to lock the car, hold your index finger out and place it directly on the locking recess from above without touching any other part of the handle (need to use right hand and stand perpendicular to the car facing forward). My wife and I use the same key and we just use the seat adjustment buttons before we get in the car, depending on who drove it last since that's the setting it remembers.

I know we shouldn't have to do these dances, the CA on my BMW M8 is not finicky at all and works flawlessly every time with no special motions.

My dealer put StarGuard on my 2021 911. Comfort access worked perfectly everywhere but in my underground garage. The Porsche tech said he remembered in the past that some GPS systems ramp up the power to get a good signal. In the garage it overpowered the Comfort access. I had it removed and it has worked perfectly since.

Odd that some had to replace the Key Fob battery. I have 18,000 miles/2 years old 911 and am still using the original key fob battery.

Our BMW is the same. I tell my wife, that if I'd driven her BMW before I bought my 911 . . . . . . . Porsche could learn a thing or two about the proper functioning of electronic wizards from their execution on her BMW.

Our Mercedes is the same, actually so was my 2013 C-class. Very reliable and not all fussy about where you put your hand whether locking or unlocking. The only thing I can think of is that the door handle on the 992 is pretty thin so perhaps the sensors are just less sensitive.

Agreed, without fail, approaching our X5 with the key fob in your pocket chirps the alarm, unlocks the doors, and at night activates the puddle lights below the doors. Impressive. Of course, that can be deactivated in settings.

Just curious, is comfort access a standard feature? Or is it only available as option/part of a package?

ditto Andy - except I find that when I leave the car sitting untouched for several days it seems to go into 'sleep mode' (to save battery?). I just touch the underside of the handle with my fingertips for 2 seconds and they 'wake up' and pop out and then operate as above.
