The numeric short shifter with Delrin **** is intriguing but I worry that the travel might be too short. I had a 996 with a short shifter and I hated it. I want to row my gears not change gears with a flick of the wrist. So I replaced with it OEM 997 GT3 short shifter and it was perfect.
How much shorter in travel is the numeric compared to the short shifter in Carrera T/GTS? I wish they offered bearing replacements like the 996/997 on OEM housing but not sure if that's feasible on 992.
I’ve driven nothing but manuals for the last 60 years.
I’ve had 3-992 manuals an S plus a GTS and Gt3 that I currently drive
it’s amazing how much better they are than the old air cool cars. I had an 87 Carrera.
The shift linkage used to be like moving a broom through molasses.
The six speed linkage on the GT three is actually a little bit more fluid than the seven speed on the GTS.
they’re both very good. The GTS is a sharp knife. Gt3 is a scalpel
I wish my BMW M2 competition shift linkage was as good its very notchy and not at all fluid.
it’s amazing how much better they are than the old air cool cars. I had an 87 Carrera.
Try driving another 3.2 again.
While the new cars are "better" in the sense of being more capable, the old cars are miles better in terms of fun factor - for my taste.
The new GT cars are race cars for the street.
The old aircooled cars are go karts licensed for the road.
2021 C2S… previously owned a few BMWs, but this car is just so special. All of us are so lucky to have this generation in a manual… I’ll be keeping mine for a long time.
