Default Sport Exhaust question

I have a 2021 992 Cab without the sports exhaust and am waiting for an allocation for a 2023 Cab S. When the car starts up it goes through a short time period with a loud exhaust noise and then it settles down. WOuld this be similar to the noise that happens all the time with the sport exhaust option?

That's the cold start routine to warm up the exhaust. No, the Sport Exhaust isn't that much louder. You can be as quiet as your current Cab if you don't toggle the Sport Exhaust button (which opens up the valves to increase volume).

I have a Cab S ('21) with Sports Exhaust, it barely does anything noise-wise at any speed or rpm. It's pretty quiet. I don't think its worth the money for sound, but for me it is for the rear end treatment vs the quad pipes.

Nope... I know what you are referring to, and my 992 with sport exhaust does the same thing on cold start... has a higher idle sound and then settles... What happens is when you turn sport exhaust on, you transition to a much deeper rumble instead of the fairly quiet base line sound. When in sport mode you also get some crackle/pop/burble sounds when lifting off the accelerator. In Sport Plus you still get the deeper rumble, but the engine cuts out the pops because its apparently "inefficient" for the most sporty driving mode.
I highly recommend the sport exhaust... others will say there are louder systems in the aftermarket, and they are absolutely right... but from factory I think this is the best option and I personally think it makes a huge difference in my experience and enjoyment of the car... I had a 991 without sport exhaust and I always felt like I was missing out. Will always happily check that box now

When the car cold starts and I flip it into sports to open the valves I do not notice an increase in sound. Only after the cold start idle has settled down. Most of the increase in sound from the PSE is in the upper revs. Putting around town isn’t that drastic.

Cold start is loud, especially if you're backed in to your garage. It is quite delightful to me. : )

After it settles down, and I push the PSE button and it is louder. Not Coyote 5.0 Mustang stupid raspy loud, but throatier and a little louder and noticeable. I notice it more when I actually turn it off, versus when I turn it on. That is probably because I like it on and use it on most often.

Is it worth the $2950-ish? Probably not, however I would order it again for everything it includes (sounds, rear valence, exhaust tips).

I have not driven a coupe with it on or off, however in the cabriolet I would think it would be more noticeable.

With the PSE 'on', the sound is not as loud as the cold start sound and like mentioned above, a different tone.
