I had to order a USB-C to regular USB adapter for my macbook. And i had to buy a USB to ethernet adapter. Both around $10 each. I think that's about it. If you have a USB-C to regular USB adapter you probably don't need this. All the other software I had to download was free.

what ports does the computer need? does the laptop have to have an ethernet port? I have a MacBook Pro and the only ports it has is 2 USB C. I would use my son's windows machine and it has two USB and one or two USB C, but no ethernet port. Does that mean I would need to buy two usb to Ethernet adapters?

You'll need an ethernet port and a conventional USB Type A port. The USB Type A port is needed to transfer files to a USB key that gets plugged into the car and to program the USB ethernet adapter (which you will buy from Amazon). You connect that USB ethernet adapter to the car and then link to it via the ethernet port on the computer.

Any idea how to get around not having an Ethernet port on the laptop. Seems that most don't have those these days.
All you need to have are:
1. Windows computer with Ethernet port ( can use any usb Ethernet adapter if you don’t nha be an Ethernet port on your computer)
2. USB flash drive
3. Ethernet cable
4. USB Ethernet adapter with ax88772 chipset

Wifi 5G and wireless CarPlay not available in certain countries
Have just found out wireless CarPlay is not activated for certain countries, such as Japan, Brazil ..etc
good news is we can activate all, it is abit tricky to get that working as it is not just simple coding, as you have to lift the wifi restrictions on the PCM5.

Yes! This was me. Extremely happy about this upgrade. For the past 2 years I put up with the tiny awful CarPlay on my 2021 C2S (not to mention having to pay for an extra phone line just for the vehicle since my primary phone is a Google Pixel); not only did it look terrible but was extremely flaky, and would lose its connection to the phone all the time (didn't matter if it was wireless or plugged in through USB). Was so frustrating. And it really soured my experienced with this vehicle since the infotainment experience on my little 2017 Golf R was just so much better by comparison.
After getting this upgrade a couple of weeks ago it finally looks and works as I would have expected from the factory. Android Auto is gorgeous and takes up the entire screen (as you can see in the picture above). And it's been super reliable so far, no issues. Very satisfied with this purchase!
I am considering getting this but the prices seemed to have gone up. Will someone be kind enough to tell me how much you paid for the HD 1920x720 resolution option? Also, what kind of discount you may have gotten. If you don't feel comfortable posting publicly, please feel free to IM me. Thank you.
