Default Link Pipe Install without Bumper Removal

As the title says, is it possible to remove and install new link pipes without removing the rear bumper? Without getting underneath the car, it looks doable. Curious if anyone has attempted it? Thanks for reading.

Sport cats or bypass pipes? You just need ramps. Easy job with bumper on.

Agreed, pretty easy with ramps, no need to take off the bumper. But you 100% need the flex head ratchet suggested in Soul's instructions which are pretty easy to find on google. A collection of short wobble extensions was helpful for me as well. Also, the torque specs on the Soul instructions might be crazy high - Stef at europipe gave me torque specs, I can dig them up if you need.

Bypass pipes. Perfect, thanks for the feedback!

Awesome, I’ll order the flex head ratchet (I have soul’s instructions). Yeah, shoot me the torque specs if you don’t mind. Kline’s pipes didn’t come with the hardware or any instructions so I’ve been referencing Soul’s guidelines. Thanks for your response.

The europipe set came with a pair of gaskets and new V clamps, but I would think neither is necessary for link pipes since you're not trying to avoid a CEL.

Consider emailing Kline to see if they have recommended torque specs - I suppose it's possible that Soul's specs are for their specific construction somehow and they may vary ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Torque Specs
V-Clamps: 20Nm / 15ft-lb
Coupling sleeve (at exhaust): 30Nm / 22ft-lb
Support bracket: 23Nm / 17ft-lb

Thanks Zach! I emailed the vendor, however, no reply, so I’ve reached out to Kline. Was the flex head ratchet needed 10mm? I’m referencing this guide and although I see them use the flex head, I don’t see them mention which size.

Weirdly, they're using the flex head ratchet for something that doesn't require it. It's needed for the 6mm allen screws on the V clamps, which are obviously installed before the bumper at the factory and are therefore in a criminally unreachable position requiring quirky tools like flex head ratchets (or bumper removal). Mine is 3/8" (silly Americans and our imperial measurements), so I used a 3/8" drive 6mm allen socket.

After you've done the job once, you'll never need the flex head ratchet for it again because you can reinstall the V clamps in a more friendly orientation.

The Vband clamp bolts can be removed from the bottom of the bolt with some vice grips as well. I just sprayed some WD40 and let it soak for a few minutes. Grabbed the bottom of the bolt with vice grips and broke it loose. Then just thread it out backwards. Reinstall by reversing the clamp.

All you have to do is thread two nuts onto the threaded end of the bolt. Hold the first nut in place with a wrench and tighten the second nut (jam nut) against it with another wrench. Once they are tightened together, take the wrench off the first nut. Continue turning the second nut (jam nut) clockwise and it will unscrew the bolt to the point where you can remove it with your fingers. Once the bolt is loose, remove the two nuts and you are golden.

I installed sport cats and sport exhaust on my Carrera S.

Piece of cake.

Any chance you can take a picture of this process? I am having a hard time visualizing it...

Thanks!

Follow the steps as I explained it. You will tighten the second nut against the first nut. You aren’t pulling a stud out of a block. So you need to turn the jam nut clockwise against the first nut and then continue turning the jam nut clockwise. This will cause the built to loosen.

I installed my soul valveless exhaust with sport cats while keeping the bumper on.

Can we get your impressions when you have some mileage, that's the setup I'm looking at but worried about too much drone on highway or too loud to be a road trip car.

I drive a 2021 Carrera S RWD 7-speed manual. No drone on highway as your engine is running at such low RPM’S. Particularly in 6th or 7th gear.

What I do not like is the high rpm’s at start up. Absolutely annoying - heavy drone. I’m considering an M-Engineering tune for it and understand it’s programmed to prevent the high RPM’s at start up.
