Default PCM and iOS 16

So, I always felt that the CarPlay integration into PCM 6.0 (2022 C2C Cab) was flaky at best - sometimes it comes up, sometimes it won’t, sometimes it works wirelessly sometimes it will only worked wired, sometimes it won’t work at all. Now I upgraded my phone (12 Pro) to iOS 16.0 and both the bluetooth and CarPlay integration is completely broken. Deleting and pairing the phone will not get CarfPlay going nor am I able to play music via bluetooth.
Anybody else having any issues with iOS 16?

Sorry to hear that. I have a 2021 so I assume it's PCM 5, but it worked perfectly when I upgraded my iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 16 for the last week or so and it has also had zero issues after I upgraded to my iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 16. If anything carplay seems to connect even faster with iOS 16.

2020 C2S and I had problems with my iPhone 13 Pro and choppy audio in CarPlay (audio prompts in waze almost unintelligible and Apple Music streaming would pause every few seconds). I cloud fix this with reboot my phone, not the car.

upgraded to IOS16 and the problem seems to have gone away so far.

Thanks to all. At least I know it is not systemic. I’ll have to bring it in for a whistle on the side mirror. So I will see, if I can get any software update or if they know of another fix. I use only CarPlay and not having it is a real deficit.

CarPlay issues are almost always the phone itself. Reboot the phone.
It's remarkable that Apple gets a pass from users. It's CarPlay that sucks, not the OEM infotainment systems.

Well, not entirely true, and, yes, I have rebooted the phone…

How/why does it suck?

Definitely not entirely true. I’ve had multiple issues with my PCM, starting from delivery in April. Screen blanking out randomly, XM not loading as well as problems with car play.
Dealer has had it in twice; the first time they recreated all of my complaints while driving the car, which I think made them take it somewhat seriously. It’s been better since the last stay there, but XM is still iffy. Very slow to load and often won’t boot up favorites.
It’s the only thing that bugs me about the car. No pun intended.

Same here. PCM is about 5 years behind BMW’s iDrive. Simply pathetic tech on a $150k car.

I don't have any issues that I didn't have in other brands with car play - BMW, Chevrolet to be specific. Occasionally it doesn't connect but that is it. A restart or turning car play on and off in the PCM usually solves any issues.

The PCM has its own warts. Why does CarPlay become default when you link your phone even though it’s not the preferred or last used audio source? Why does the navigation apps use the car antenna instead of the phone antenna causing the guidance to freak out in certain circumstances thinking I’m 500ft away from location? Why does it randomly disconnect? I honestly wish I could disable wireless CarPlay and only use it wired when I need it for navigating or feel like using Apple Music.
