Not sure if I agree here. I have had good luck in tuning the Bose in my 992 so that it really performs well. Even better if you bypass the Bluetooth connection and go direct to the USB-C connection.

I like the Bose just fine. No complaints.

The Bose is definitely an upgrade from the Blaupunkt in an 87 930 Turbo. It does sound a lot better in the garage than on the road, but maybe some fiddling with the controls can get some more depth out oof it. Driving with a manual trans means most of the time the radio is off anyway.

I have the Harmon Kardon in my M4 and I am not impressed. The stock system in my 2010 S4 sounds better, even with a broken speaker. I'm going with the Bose for my 992 to have the sub.

I have the Bose system in my 2022 992 C2 and I find it sonically equivalent, (if not better) to the Harmon Kardon in my GLE. Just curious, does the ‘native’ Apple Music implementation in PCM6 provide Apple’s highest resolution (lossless) audio? I have listened to Apple Music tracks with iPhone wired, wireless and ‘native’, and I can perceive only slight differences, if any.

I recently took delivery of my 2022 F250 Lariat super duty. I optioned the truck to the top as its my daily driver and more or less an office on wheels. The B&O sound system is really good. When streaming music the sound quality is awesome. I think the bose in my 2022 992 S is decent, but it should not be an option. It should be the standard system.

B&O, HK (BMW) are very good. Mark Levinson and Burmester are maybe even a bit better. Bose is pretty mediocre for an “upgrade,” but that’s true for everything Bose. OTOH, the 992 is not a quiet car, particularly the GT3 and GTS, and I think it’s adequate. Yes, it should be standard in a $100K+ car.

Well, the list of things that should be standard but are not in a Porsche is quite long. Porsche has a pretty unique business model (that seems to work for them) of starting with what is almost a fully de-optioned car and then charging for each option. The marketing team touts the ability to customize the car and the fact that almost no 2 cars are identical. But I suspect profitability is the real driver. No sour grapes here. I went into this voluntarily with full awareness of how it works. I guess that speaks to something they are doing right.

Maybe I am slow but how is this related to the topic on hand again?

I think audio is a very subjective matter, more psychology than science.

For example, with blind test, many people fail to distinguish the sound from $10,000 speakers from $1,000 speakers.

I had done such test, and yup, I could not tell...

So, if you don't like the sound of Bose, then replace the label with B&O or Mark Levinson.

It will make a world of difference.

* About blind test of Loud Speakers.... Andrew Robins confessing...

Apple music and your iPhone will most likely transmit the highest quality of audio that it can at the moment. In that case there is probably little to no difference in the audio file being played by the sound system (lossless = lossless, regardless of the audio file source, etc). So wired, wireless, and native will all be relatively close or identical in audio quality - your phone is just acting as the intermediary to download and transmit an audio file, via the desired connection type, to your cars sound system, as long as the connection type is "fast enough" the connection type is irrelevant (keep in mind iPhone transfer over cable at like USB 2.0 speeds, which is slow by today's standards)

This entire thread is pretty funny and useless. Each post alternates between, "I think it sounds pretty good" and "the Bose system is garbage."

If anyone really cares, get a friend, family member, or random stranger and have him or her sit in multiple vehicles (including your Porsche) and listen to the same song from the same source at the same volume in different vehicles and say which sounds better.

Of course, that will just lead to Porsche owners concluding that the test subjects are either tone deaf or audiophiles depending on if they agree or disagree with their personal assessment...

Sound to the ear of the beholder is subjective.....but generally speaking Bose as a brand is never anything to run home about...they do a good job at marketing themselves but absolute audio quality never has been their thing. The Bose set-up in my 981 and 991 sucked...especially in the 981. It's not too bad in the 992 but definitely have heard better. The 992 set-up is heavy on the bass..even in it's lowest setting. I'm going to spec the Burmester next time around in my next 911.

My experience with car audio brands:

Bose + HK + Meridian = Meh (HK has fallen off or BMW just downgraded the quality of their HK systems; used to be pretty good back in the E9X and F3X days)
BW = Fairly decent
B&O + Burmester = Typically pretty good...especially if you opt for the real deal $4k-$6k Burmester set up. The cheaper MB Burmester set-ups are rumored to be only tuned by Burmester but are actually Harman hardware. Got to get the E and Up to get the opp. to spec the real thing. Porsche always offers the real thing regarding the Burmester option

This entire thread is pretty funny and usless, each post alternates between this thread is useless and people providing useless information. Still waiting to hear how many of the people complaining about sound quality are using Spotify or some garbage.

Sounds like it makes sounds to me and beyond that does anyone reaaaalllly care? I don't, and I use a pair of HD25 1-II originals that are over 10 years old because I like wired headphones for sound quality. Which one of you clowns is actually driving with the stereo on louder than the exhaust? Sell the car and go buy a Ford truck or whatever if sound quality over the speakers is your priority, sound quality over the exhaust should be a Porsche drivers priority, IMHO.
