Lightbulb 992 Targa 4 GTS in Agate Grey

Hello folks,

coming from always owning black cars, I am currently considering swapping my Jet Black 992 4S Convertible with the below 992 Targa 4 GTS in Agate Grey.

Any feedback about this color? I know it's very personal but just wondering whether I will be disappointed after moving away from black cars. I know already it will be much easier to keep clean

I have a C2S on order in Agate Grey. I am coming from a series of black and red cars and find this color a great change of pace and quite elegant. I chose the slate grey/chalk interior as I think the chalk seats contrast in a very soft looking way with the grey exterior. I added silver trim and carrera classic wheels to further the soft look. Based on the picture you posted, it appears you are going for a more aggressive look which also compliments the grey exterior very nicely.

Thanks for your feedback!

Yes, you are absolutely right, I went full GTS interior in Red/RaceTex, a lot of carbon fiber (carbon fiber trim, upper mirrors cases and steering wheel) and the full high-gloss package.
Planning to replace the rear clear stone chip guards with matt black ones. And potentially adding the two matt black stripes on the bonnet too (I could not spec these as they don't come with the Targa, only with the Coupe and Cabrio).

The color is good, not as dark as black, more of a charcoal grey. You will like it if you are a fan of grey

This is the first Agate Grey car I've had and I am surprised at how easy it is to maintain. I have always thought silver was the easiest to keep clean but I think Agate is easier. Silver will show dark grime, black shows everything, and Agate is in the middle. If you are OC like I am, then Agate is a good choice!

It’s great if you want to blend in.

Thanks, looking forward to it!

I wish Agate Grey always looked like in this photo - but I understand that in certain light conditions it looks brighter

I have a Jet Black 992 Targa 4S and an Agate Grey 991.2 Touring. Love both of them, but the agate is way easier to maintain (looks much cleaner even when not). Agate also transforms color a little more than my JBM targa, the agate looks brighter and darker in different lighting much more than the JBM transforms. Crazy how the Agate looks different in various pics you will see... Others will say both are pretty boring and standard, as both has been offered, and often selected, over the past several dozen years. I like them (and also had a number of white 911's as well. (but most have been black like you). But I guess I am pretty boring and like the traditional colors.

Agate is an amazing color. It has brown undertones; it's unlike any grey I've seen from any other manufacturer. It's fantastic, and you'll love it.

The pictured car seems to have the gloss black package, so the wheels tend to disappear in pix. In person it's not as bad. Many like it. I prefer the satin.

Correct - high gloss package including high gloss wheels and privacy rear glass - just wanted to stick to some black bits and bobs at least!

I was in the same boat, black was always my go to except my GT3 in Carrara white. My 992S is AG and I love it. Looks brownish or greenish in some colors. Much easier to maintain than black for sure. Regardless, I got full paint correction, partial PPF, and full Ceramic including wheels. Easiest car to wash I ever owned and it sparkles even if slightly dirty. Glad the wheels on the GTS you are looking at are black. Silver wheels just did not look as good to me on my 2S.

Thanks for your feedback! If the Agate Grey 992S you refer to is the one in your avatar it looks amazing, I wish that colour would always look like that

Is Agate a far enough departure? Perhaps try Arctic Gray.
