Diamond/shortcut button options?

I use steering wheel button for homelink. It is flawless for me. The issue some have here, I suspect, is pressing the button too long. If you do that, homelink won't engage. Just one quick press, and my garage opens from down the street, and closes after I back out of the garage. I use the dash button to turn on AC. Like others here, I never drive in normal mode, so ACC is disengaged. The exception is when I'm waiting in the Costco gas line.

FWIW, I have two shortcut buttons. Steering wheel is set to Park Assist and the one on the dash is set to Homelink.

I used to have it in that order but found the button on the wheel not as easy to press with the wheel turned headed it into certain spots. I swapped camera on the dash and now I can have the wheel cranked and just hit the dash real quick to make sure front bumper doesn’t hit the curb.

Thanks for the input-still curious as to what all the possible options are. I'm guessing I will have 3 programmable buttons and at this point I'm thinking I will do homelink, sport mode and possibly pcm on/off but curious as to what other options there are.

Keep in mind that trim and features likely affect what is available for shortcuts. For example, I have a C2S 7MT Cab.

I have 3 diamond buttons (no PSE etc.) and have had my car 2 years now. Steering wheel button = homelink, dash button 1 = home, dash button 2 = surround.
But the thing is, like @Bluehighways I've given up on the stupid inbuilt homelink system and use an old style clicker, hanging off the visor like in time honored tradition. So I could have switched that button to something else but I've never felt the need.
As for using one of these to switch off auto start/stop? On my PCM I have that on the home screen but 99.9% of the time I drive in sport anyway so never use that either.

Quick question: sounds like when you press programmed homelink button it directly opens the garage door. I did that too but that only brings up the homelink menu and I then need to press it in PCM again. Not a big problem except when I back out of garage the homelink screen is blocked from coming up and here I need to first close the backup camera, then press the star button to bring up the homelink and finally.pressing the homelink garage that is programmed.

If you have a MY20 or MY21 car then there is no 'one press' operation of the homelink function, all you can do is press the button to bring up the PCM menu. On MY22 cars my understanding is if you have only one profile set in Homelink then pressing the button will activate that profile.
