Coming up to 40,000 km/25,000 miles and 2-year service (third oil change) in July. No oil added up to the first oil change at around 12,000 km/8000 miles; no oil added between 12,000 km and the second oil change at about 26,000 km/16,000 miles. Added about 1/4 of a litre between 25,000 km and now and it's probably about another 1/4 litre below the second from the top bar where I like it to be. The bottom line is no appreciable oil use, and the car has been run hard at frequent high RPM (my average fuel economy the entire time I've had the car is between 12 and 13 MPG while it's in the high 13s to low 15s MPG when my wife drives it).

Someone remind me - where do I find my digital dipstick on the dash?

When the display is showing your settings (oil temp, pressure etc.), press the roll selector on the right hand of the steering wheel, scroll until you see Oil Level, push the wheel (select it) and there it is!

Just under 2000 miles, no change in gauge (max/OK).

Is there a nice DIY video for the oil change on the 992 like the 991s? I guess there isn't much difference, but I'm happy to view more people doing things properly. I'll be doing my first change the next time I have the engine warmed up. There certainly is a dearth of DIY info on the 992s compared to the 991s.

the only real difference is the drain pan plug and the tool to remove it.

If you search YT you will find is a decent video made by a Silicon Valley indie shop.

How many of you who replied to this thread with no oil consumption followed break in procedure under 4k for 2000 miles…Seems excessive. Also curious if any followed Andreas Preuninger technique. Some discussion about this recently on the T thread.

So planning on doing Euro Delivery and want to enjoy it while I am there and even willing to follow the AP technique but also planning on keeping long term and would hate to create future headaches.

No oil consumption at around 6k miles on Mobil1 0w-40 C40. Expect to do the Spring oil change and switch to Liqui Moly 5w-40 C40; don't expect this to impact consumption

No consumption on mine in 15k miles and mine started it’s life as a PCNA “demo/track” for the first 1k miles, so no book break in was performed.

That’s great data point. Would love to hear about more examples such as this.

It's nice to read an oil consumption thread that contains virtually no oil consumption! And this coming from a guy who just sold his GT350, where the oil consumption topic is like the IMS bearing threads I was reading during my 996 ownership. (BTW, I never needed to add oil on my GT350. It was broken in and driven right, and hard.)

My CGTS4.0 was broken in using AP's method, very strictly adhered to. And because I was purposely driving the car as much as NY winter weather would allow, with the sole intention of piling on break-in miles, during COVID lock-down, I was able to break that engine in correctly as well. The results speak for themselves in the oil analysis posted earlier, WHICH WAS MINE! lol. Nice to see someone reads my posts.

I can't wait to get my 911T. At least the long break-in won't be quite as bad because if I want to hear a flat-6 since to 8k, I'll just take the Cayman that day. lol.

No oil consumption at 13,000+. Broken in by the book with perfect oil analyses. My experience is that a rough break In doesn’t usually show up until much later in the life of an engine. The things that wear tend to reach the point of replacement earlier than most similar cars.

Only thing I can say is I did do several hard pulls since that time to get some 60-130 times with the M-eng tune.
Same. I had to top off 4k miles after my previous oil change, by about a quart. I did a few quarter mile pulls and also have the M-Eng tune.
