That's incredibly brave. I wouldn't drive my 911 and park at Costco, have had my car dinged twice in the last 10 years there. Once driving as someone was racing to get into a spot, another time parked as some lady opened her door into my car.

I take mine there all the time (knock on wood). The parking spaces are wider, with double striping. Never had an issue. And I've even seen a beautifully restored 356 in the parking lot there.

I have taken my 911 to Costco a few times and you have picked the exact type of parking spot I would have. If you park super close to the curb, it really leaves quite a gap between you car and the next space.
Took a sporty back road drive up to Jacksonville and back yesterday and filled up when I got home. Gas mileage was 26.4 MPG and says a full tank will go 600 miles! Pretty cool.
