I have the 2021 C2S with the 18 way seats. When I picked up my car last year, I got the manual steering column as well, but my seats do move back and forth when I turn off the car and get in/out. Not sure if its this 'feature' that is doing it, or its because of the memory seat setting?

I don’t think your dealer will know until the car shows up on a truck.
What kind of deposit did you put down on the car? If it’s $1k, I’d take the gamble and keep the order.
Unless you did python green with yellow leather and red seatbelts, your dealer isn’t going to have any issue selling the car in the next four months. Matter of fact, they’d love it if you backed out as soon as it lands.

I also think you are correct that they will be happy to take the car and sell it to the next guy unless it has some weird spec. Of course, if you agreed to a larger ADM then they can fetch at the time of delivery, they may try to muscle you for your deposit.

I think it's looking more and more like a mass email to customers who may potentially be affected by this issue to cover their bases while whatever electric steering wheel component trickles into the factory gets installed on cars that calls for it. I think it's similar to the tire lottery; is it Pirelli, Michelins, or Good Year? Luck of the draw as shrimp money indicates.
Mines up to be built next week. Hoping for the electric column and Michelins

My sales manager said her knew about it and I was the first to call. I'd say Porsche is out of chips.

I got the letter the night before I took delivery. I was annoyed I was not informed right away. It's not like Porsche didn't know how to get ahold of me.

Just to stir the pot a little...I remain quite fascinated by the hardship being described by not having a motorized steering column. Ordering something then finding out it's not available is certainly unfortunate.
If you must deal with a manually adjustable steering column, try this solution - when you are ready to exit the car, unlock your steering column and push it forward and up. When you enter the car, position the steering column and lock it. This works every time for a variety of different drivers.

I received the email on one of my two 911s so far. My steering column is electric but I don’t think it gets out of the way when I open the door. Don’t need it any way. I’m 6’1” and weigh a trim 215. Not bad for 71 years. I converted it to service voucher and will buy some golf shirts. Never too many of those.

I think it is more ordering and paying for something and then not getting it. I think if the compensation were more commensurate with the loss of feature, you might see some different reactions. If this had been a stand alone option, I am hard pressed to believe I could check the box for a $500 upcharge. And it isn't $500 back - just a voucher for merchandise or service.
Just for comparison, here are the options you can select for around $500:
- Key in vehicle color: $540
- Seatbelts in a different color: $540
- RaceTex sun visor cover: $590
- Mirror base in body color: $660
- Silver tailpipes: $430
- Black brake calipers: $900

The worst part is that those items you listed are retail prices, so their actual cost is probably 90% less.
Like I said before, I feel like just compensation is the cost it would be for owners to have it retrofitted at the dealership at a later date. It's like getting a check to fix your car from the accident. You can pocket it, or get your car fixed, that's your decision. Instead, they've taken the more expensive route, and just mailed EVERYONE a $500 voucher.
