Default Can someone explain the darn dash clock?

Sport chrono; I get it. It make the car go zoom.

The unsightly bubble on the dash… when do I use it? What does it do? Does it show the time? How does it record laps? Do I push a button to start/stop it? Can it do anything else?

…and why is the sub second clock worth $4k?!!? What am I doing, where I care about fractional seconds, which would be safe for me to look at a tiny dash clock???

I can't answer most of those, but those who have Sport Chrono, some have opted for the Sub Second Clock which is about $1k I believe at that point because it looks better than the standard, like a nice wristwatch. Not for any other reason. It may have other functionality. But I think some people think it looks better.

To me the dash clock is mostly decoration and a hat tip to Porsche racing lineage. It is functional and in the absence of a smartphone app that trips your start/finish line automatically the Sport Chronograph clock *can* give you crude lap times manually. Here is how to use it.

i thinks it’s meant to be a stop watch more than a clock

I wouldn't buy a car without the "unsightly bubble". Maybe flip your car for one without sport chrono.

Could someone post a side by side photo comparison of the two sport chrono options?

I like the sophisticated watch-like look of the subsecond clock, but not for $1,120!! And I have mine with the chalk ring, which was $420 (for a freaking ring of color, probably not money well spent either to be honest), but if you get the subsecond, you cannot choose any of the color accents. Which I get, that would defeat the purpose of it looking more sophisticated.

I think if the car had sport chrono without the WART; you’d be just fine.

FYI - my build has SC.. but not for the clock feature.

I have no love for heritage for the sake of heritage. It sounds like an appendix. It’s there because we used to need it; but no one knows anymore why.
