Thanks for the heads up! Curious - what year is your 992?

Very interesting, and could help explain some of the issues that some people have had with their trickle charger?

I tried using the Porsche VIN recall lookup tool with your VIN (from the letter): https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/...ReadForm&c=usa. Unfortunately it doesn't return an open recalls, so we can't easily check for the same recall for our 992s (yet).

I’ll call the dealer in the morning, get the low down on it. I’m friendly with a Porsche tech at the dealership so will message him to see what’s what.

it doesn’t say “recall”, not something that would make the car undrivable, but interesting to see if it is related to the battery drain or charging issues (not that I’ve had these).

Maybe it's just a problem with Great Britain - Right Hand Drive cars?

Right, so booked in a the dealer…. It is a recall, they looked up the chassis number to confirm.

unfortunately they could not confirm if it’s global or just RHD cars……

be really helpful to get a picture of exactly what they’re talking about as far as the connection. I know the factory also publishes a repair procedure which in this case is probably nothing more than replacing a bolt and possibly sanding The connection area.?
Porsche has a trifecta for charging system problems . Run The charging system as little as possible to minimize draw from the alternator. Lots of parasitic draw. Plus a small battery. Perfect recipe for Battery problems.! CarlThe charging system and I

I just had routine service done on my US MY20 4S (6/19 build) and afterwards the dealer asked me to schedule a follow up appointment to perform the grounding bolt repair. He said they need the car for 2 hours (not sure why that long). So it would appear this issue is global and affects multiple model years and 992 variants.

Applies to US (or Alaska at least), checked as part of courtesy service in May. C4S MY21

Got it done in London a couple of months ago on my prev 992. They just checked it without changing it, apparently everything was ok.

Not sure if it entailed electrical conductivity tests or simply visual for rust.

That utility ( as I understand) just addresses government mandated safety re-calls. The ground thing is a Porsche service bulletin situation( re-call of sorts) so would not show up on that utility. You will need to have the dealer look up for you if you did not get a letter.
