I thought I read somewhere that FAL automatically lowers after a certain period of time. It was related to a thread where people had parked close to a curb or something, and that they didn't realize FAL was active when the parked, and when they came back the car had lowered automatically on top of the curb or something. I swear I read that recently on the boards here.

The car AFAIK does not lower on its own.

Why Porsche couldn't program lowering when the engine shuts off joins a long list of crappy designs in the 992 (no, I'm not going to wasted electrons outlining them again).

I also do recall that entry but I would list it as a fluke as (once again) it's mentioned prominently and clearly in the manual to lower it before switching the engine off.

@JKMD I'll be interested to know if that is the cause will Porsche cover it or blame you...?

So why does it mention to lower the vehicle before shut-off? Oh I get it, it could lower anywhere when your seals blow. Yep, go with that!

I agree with JKMD that the "right" solution is an audible warning. It would be easy to implement. If FAL automatically lowered, I can easily imagine the post(s) from the owner(s) who is(are) pissed off because FAL chose to lower the car onto a curb or parking block and did thousands of dollars of damage.

So in terms of the thread title, I wish Porsche would have engineered a height adjustable setting on the pillar for the seat belt. I’m 6’2” like to have my seat as low as it will go but the shoulder portion of my seat belt hits me right on the neck above shirts I wear. Irritating (literally).

For those of us that actually HAVE FAL on their cars…we know that the car does NOT automatically lower when turning off the engine. However, It will lower itself, automatically, once you begin to drive off.

LOL. How about a post-it-note on the steering wheel that says, “ Go slow over speed bumps!”?

I've mentioned this a gadzillion times and reason why I bought a silly sleeve for the seat belt so I don't slice my carotid... just another silly thing to add to the stupid seat strap, a rear wiper with no washer... Will they fix it and admit?

As to auto lowering, it will do so around 35mph. However I wish there was a way to change that but haven't really looked in PIWIS

This morning I had left the sunroof tilted up when I turned off the car and it gave warning ding with dashboard message. Same could been done on FAL if lowering is such a crucial issue. I am not sure as how prevalent FAL option is selected on 992 but anyone experience malfunction requiring a repair? or I am one of few?

Of course in RED, but not as fluffy, smoother and it has avoided costly cosmetic surgery due to total lack of planning and QC.

In Porsche's defense the only excuse I can find is that they were in a rush and the oodles of **** decisions that slipped through were due to the fact that the QC folks were on vacation and they needed to get the car out.

Thus items such as: NO AM radio band (and I'm going to get road info from... when there's no cell signal????????), a Braun shaver that's an insult (you don't want a shifter then use buttons like Ferrari), wiper with no washer (real useful to smear the back window), gauges that can't be seen, electro-mechanical frunk release (if your battery is toast , start using those little hands of yours to clamp...), odometer reset (was there ANYTHING wrong with the time honored reset button?), sun visor too narrow (would have been nice a dual one), Homelink disappearance into a badly coded PCM (reverted to clipping my original UGDO to my visor), "M" in a Porsche for those of us with PDKs???... Hoping they will at least bother to rectify this or some of these items but not holding my breath.

Keep us posted as I'd like to know how they approach this. GL

Agreed on all points except one, but only because I didn’t understand the concern and am curious. What did you mean with the “M” in your post that you’re referring to as something they should have fixed? I mean I get that the M button on PDK switches it to manual mode, but wasn’t following what the problem was with it that they should have fixed (assuming of course you’re even talking about the M/manual mode.).

Sorry it’s late, I’m exhausted and wasn’t getting the reference…

Coupled with the Braun shifter and having to press "M", why not just go to buttons like Ferrari et al. "M" should be default on a Porsche...
