Default Wait Times for Electric Steering Column

Hello Fellow 992-owners,

For those of you who were affected by the chip shortage and took delivery of a 992 with a manual steering column when you should've received an electric one, how long did you have to wait for your dealer to install the electric steering column? Did you incur any out of pocket costs? How long did the actual installation take?

Thanks!

Took delivery of my C2S last July and still waiting word on when the retro fit will be available.

I thought there were some comments in other threads saying Porsche recently informed owners that the steering column would not be retrofitted and that they were going to offer compensation instead

Oh man that sucks. Any ballpark estimates on what it would cost to get the retrofit done down the line?

Doubtful it will ever be available from the manufacturer. Received my car in August 2021 - manual column - still. I've learned to accept if for what it is. Life is too short to worry about something as silly as an electric adjusting vs. manual column. Sure - I paid for it. Porsche can throw some compensation in my direction - that's fine. To swear off the brand for something this trivial is just silly and stupid.

Agreed, what do you think a fair compensation from Porsche would be/what do you think is reasonable to ask for in exchange?

That's fair - although, I'd rather have a Targa at MSRP and guaranteed allocation. I'd be in for that in a heartbeat.

I think the same car you ordered at MSRP the next round is fair.

But really, you'll get a $1k certificate to spend at Porsche Experience in LA, ATL, or Birmingham.

Is this how you were compensated? I was thinking like a free set of tires or something, but not sure if that's too extreme.

No, but over the weekend at PECATL, I overheard a guy saying the motor in his Cayman GTS was replaced under warranty, and it took 5 months. He received a $1k certificate as compensation.

A friend of mine has a macan inbound. I think the moment it either got loaded on the boat or the moment it was offload, he got an email and a $500 credit. So I think that is the going rate.
