Perspective…well said sir.

i can understand the differences in opinions about how one feels about a paint flaw on their car. But when the “conversation” devolves to personal potshots at each other, maybe there is a flaw in basic civility and respect?

Very sorry to hear this and an example of my point. Pissing and moaning about a single paint flaw get real folks!

Owned Porsches for years. Only ever buy nearly-new so I accept imperfections. If I ever stumped up the ****-stinging cost of a brand new 992 + ADM + a billion-year wait for it to arrive (assuming it didn’t sink first) only to find it had less than perfect paint, I’d be VERY pissed. I don’t blame the OP for getting the hump. And just for the record, I attend parties. I am fun. F**k you…

My last 992 had a paint defect. My paint correction specialist determined the imperfection was actually under the paint & clear-coat. Which led us to believe the bumper itself had the imperfection. You could only see it close up in certain lighting conditions, while trying to look for it.

I never even thought once to complain about it to Porsche.

I can understand we want our cars to be perfect right off the ship, but we can’t lose sight of the fact there will be far more imperfections just from normal wear & tear down the road.

Drive the car & enjoy it. Good luck.

This thread has gotten out of hands on both sides. Yes we pay a sh*t load of money and we want perfection - I get it for sure. But I do also have to remind myself that these cars at the end of the day are made by flawed humans (even when we use machines for a lot of it) and no car will be 100% perfect. I think in general you just need to sort out what the cost-benefit is of fixing the issue - in this case I think the costs are high because you need to spend a lot of time talking to a lot of people and even worse - the fix may be worse than the problem. The benefit seems fairly low - you have a minor defect that 99.9% of people won’t notice - sure you know it but overtime you can forget too. I think as much as I want perfection in this case it’s actually better to move on given all the costs / headaches.

Fair enough. I initially read the comment to be about the to do over the paint error. When I go back and read it again, i see your point. C- for me for reading comp on this one.

If the dealer says its ok move on and enjoy the car. Nothing is 100% perfection, its a car!!! Go enjoy!! I have issues with my new Macan GTS and the paint is far from perfection. I run it like a Porsche and no one every notices what I do.

Unfortunate this thread has devolved into the personal attacks.

Paint defects happen, it’s unrealistic to expect perfection. However, we all acquire these cars through different paths and for many it’s a path of years or decades of hard work. I can understand the desire for fixing defects, and that doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t a relative understanding of the importance in life against much greater problems like health crisis and people suffering because their country is at war and being attacked.

The dealership service departments and body shops are in business to solve problems like this, they are part of the economy, and fixing paint puts food on their table and a roof over their head.
Porsche isn’t going to go out of business if you ask for a refinish on your hood. Just be aware that depending on the panel, you are sometimes opening a can of worms and are better off with factory paint. The fact that this defect can’t be captured by picture is making me feel like it’s relatively minor.
