Things are diving, even in the seafood market. Caribbean lobster tails just dropped 20% this month; wholesalers are working through their inventories to dump.

I just updated my pricing analysis of 992 C4S. Since April, several things have happened. First, 29 of the 30 992 C4S cars from April are gone. Second, a surprising 9 out of the current 30 offerings are in Gentian Blue. Next, the average mileage of the 30 cars currently offered has gone up considerably - from 5,182 to 8,575. Last, the average price asked has dropped $3K (from $168 to $166) and the average sticker has risen $3K (from $149 to $152). The average markup from sticker sits at +$14K (vs +$19K in April). I believe the extra 3,393 in average miles accounts for the $5K price drop, but there may also have been an ever so slight weakening in prices as well. Peace everybody.

  • Gentian Blue is a popular color.
  • The days of paying over sticker for used 2020 992s will be behind us once the 2023 cars start landing.
  • From my monitoring of the 992 market, we're past peak values for the 2020s. Sure, some of it is mileage related, but those cars also have the older PCMs (no Android auto or updates) and lack some options that were introduced in later builds. There are also some nuisances with the 2020s like the door handles not popping up when you approach the car -- Porsche didn't get that really sorted until MY21. While none of that makes a 2020 undesirable per se, there are buyers that might take those minor things into consideration when it comes to price.

Detasinnn,
Thanks for adding the great color here and in your earlier post! There's a lot of general speculation and observations based on a car sold here or there. I own an quant analytics firm specializing in political redistricting - and we are all about the numbers. I'm sure there are variants of this for the GT3 and Turbo that would be different. I only really care about the 992 C4S because that's where I came in. I personally really liked the Gentian, but found a great car in Midnight Blue. Now I'm REALLY glad I went that direction with this seeming glut of Gentian and esp. since NBM is a $13K PTS color now. I'm trying to keep this analysis up in real time - because these cars are selling so fast - once they are gone and off the Porsche website there's nothing I can do. Appreciate the feedback.

Bought my 2020 4S 9k miles msrp $152k for $150k last month. There was a couple local cars that were over $170k and have all sold before I bought mine. Either I got a lucky or it’s a trend of things settling down. Thanks for posting the info

I would like to think so but I’m still waiting for more time to pass. Either way I’m impressed with the 992. I understand why there’s such a line for buying them. And I’m glad I’m not waiting😆🤙🏼

I bought a C4S Cabriolet at list 2 weeks ago at 189k MSRP, no ADM. Someone else walked so I got a call out of the blue and picked it the next morning.

Regards.

Not me, I've wanted a 911 since I was 9; I waited 52 years before putting a deposit down (8/2021) and can keep on waiting until I get an allocation at MSRP, no ADM.

That kind is a long time ago.

Almost 2 years. That's more than half the lifespan of a 992.1 generation.

Default August pricing update

Pricing update for August on 2020/2021 C4S! Several observations since June:
1) All of the June C4S cars are gone
2) Average miles for used C4S have gone up, slightly, from 8,575 to 8,870 - driven by a couple of cars near or above 20K miles now.
3) Average asking price has gone down, from $168 to $159
4) However, the average original sticker price is also lower than in June, from $152 to $150. The cars for sale right now are slightly less loaded.
5) The difference between asking and sticker is down from $14 to $8. This is due somewhat to one car being offered for $15 below sticker. Someone needs to go jump on that car.
6) The number of cars available is unchanged at 30.

All in all the market still looks extremely strong. The drop in pricing and asking/sticker delta looks to be driven more by higher mileage than the market. Low mileage C4S prices are basically unchanged. Peace everybody!
