I was quoted an "Exclusiv Manufactur" price of $4500 to paint the wheels at the factory. Thinking of going aftermarket. So, whether you opt for the base centerlock wheels or the RS, you're stuck with satin black unless you want to pay through the nose. OTOH, it should cost about $1000 for a reputable wheel shop to make 'em gloss black.
Per my comment above the Satin Black wheels become Gloss Black if you get the High Gloss Black Exterior Package or High Gloss Black Aerokit.

Are you sure about that?

I believe there is actually more parasitic power loss with the PDK, and hence a MT car actually puts down more power at the wheels than the PDK. I think the reason that a PDK car is faster in instrumented tests is b/c of gearing (and perhaps quicker shifting).

Spent those 10 years on M5 forums and never heard of anyone having to spend a dime on their transmission - and that's where you get your complainers.

At the end of the day, this is like choosing between Yale and Harvard or, better yet, Macallan 18 and Clase Azul Dia de los Muertos: both are amazing in their own right but appeal too different tastes.

Hmmm, conversely, over on the M3 forums throughout the years there were plenty of SMG/DCT complaints. Go figure!

P.S. As it pertains to gloss black wheels, "Iron Off" makes cleaning them a cinch. Spray on, watch the brake dust/iron deposits melt off, high pressure rinse, and 95% of the work is basically done without you ever having to touch the wheels. What little tactile work is necessary is really minimal. Wipe in straight lines and use little pressure and swirls/scratches aren't really an issue.

Thats efficiency . It translates into quicker lap times and straight line numbers .

I didn't say they always break . However if a break down meant an overhaul the manual would be significantly cheaper to fix .

True, but it is only meaningful to the discussion if there is a reasonable expectation it will occur.

It's ridiculous to worry about breaking one out of hundreds of super complex systems in these cars.

If you haven't seen these videos yet, here's a walkaround of a Lava Orange C2S with gloss black Aerokit:

And a Shark Blue GTS with gloss black Aerokit:

Both look fantastic in my humble opinion, but I would suggest getting gloss black calipers or black PCCBs if you choose either of these colors. Standard GTS interior has the seat back embroidery, but I would also suggest optioning extended race-tex and leather. The GTS Interior Package forces the matte carbon, which is quite pricey (would much rather use that money elsewhere). Add the race-tex headliner and visors, because you can afford it if you can afford a GTS. I just visited my dealer to try the standard 4 way sports plus seats (having only experienced the 14 and 18 ways previously), and I am definitely going with those. Serious weight savings over the 18 ways, and very easy to slide forward to get kids/gear in the back seat.
