Default out of storage

For those who live in wintery climes, and don’t drive their 992s in the winter, putting the car in storage in the fall, and taking it out in the spring are rites of passage that contribute to the ownership experience. Today, I took my car out of storage. It’s little early for me, we can still get snow and cold well into April, but today was 57 and sunny and it felt right. I store the car in a garage space owned by some Porsche Club friends, there are probably close to 20 cars stored there each season, mostly Porsches but also Audi, Mercedes, Ferrari and some muscle cars. This year, I had some problems with my charger which seems to have failed but my buddies got the car started and hooked up to one of their chargers so today the battery was fully charged and the car started and drove perfectly. Driving out of the garage and warming her up, taking her down some favorite local roads, and reconnecting with the driving experience that has been missing the past 6 months is always somewhat magical. The season has begun again.

OMG - 100% agree! I'm in eastern Iowa - just got mine out this past week due to decent weather and the streets finally being reasonably clean. I've been storing a car in the winter for literally decades - and it never fails to surprise me every Spring when I get it out that I have this "reawakening" and have to almost pinch myself with the thought of "wow, is this really mine"? To me it makes it a real treat and just like acquiring the car when new again. Congrats - I hope your decent weather continues and you have a wonderful year of Porsche driving!

been in CA. for the last 24 yrs but im from wisconsin. Always remember taking the car out of storage, it was like getting a new car or a new girlfriend. Especially because my winter car was usually a piece of sh-t.. I think i kept cars longer because of that .. carl
