Default Dealer Screw Up

Brief history of my "order" for a 2022 GTS. I was contacted in early January by my local dealer about the first C2 GTS Allocation and if I wanted to take it. I accepted and met with them on Jan. 7th for the deposit and initial build spec. When there for the deposit, they said it was a "March" allocation, May build, and July delivery. All of those dates sounded reasonable to me because that's what I experienced with my C4S. On Jan. 11th I sent them a revised build code and was happy with what I changed. My SA responded that he would update the code and I left it at that. fast forward to Feb. 28th, i was getting curious about the freeze date and when my build sheet would sent to me for approval (like with my C4S) so I emailed my SA. He responds with "the car is actually being built and now showing an early May arrival". Of course I get very pumped and ask him if they can connect the Track your dream with my profile. I wake up on March 1st with access to TYD, so I open it up and a "GTS" is there and on the way for an early May arrival....only catch is that is not the GTS I ordered. The car wasn't even close to my spec so call them and ask if this is really the car they ordered for me. He gives me the bad news that this was my allocation and somehow this (very basic and wrong color) GTS is what was input as the order.

I really couldn't believe it was just wondering if anyone else's order had ever been botched this bad??

I’ve only purchased one Porsche and that is not at all how my order was handled. I think I made 3 changes to my build and every time they would send me the new build sheet the next day for me to sign off on. They did warn me the freeze date could be moved up and I should have my preferred final build in within a couple of weeks of the freeze date in case it moved up just to be safe.

what’s your build code? I’m curious to see what they ordered for you.

Wow. I have ordered a number of 911's (including having 2 992's). This is not at all how it has worked in my experience. On my 992's I had access to TYD, where I could see the build spec's and I also changed it a few times (got confirmation) and could verify it by looking at the build sheet on TYD.

I guess if it is a spec you can live with - take delivery, sell it for a nice profit, and get another allocation (of course it is going to be likely a year before you see the next one).

Maybe even ask if you can get a few % points off to sweeten the deal, or have them buy it back for a nice mark up (30K) along with another quick - that way they have it as inventory and can make some money on it and get an allocation in the process.

I don't even have the build code for they ordered. I never sent them one even close to this build. my last experience was like you mentioned, I gave them a build code, they sent a build sheet, and I approved it. Not sure what happened here and neither do they.

It is the base white color, standard GTS interior, and the only option selected with a glass sunroof. Great price point if anyone wants a basic GTS...if you can call a GTS basic.

My car came exactly as ordered. The day I locked, I went into the dealership to review, then I signed/initialed the final build at the dealership. At that time the SA, when comparing to the previous build code I had sent him, discovered one small/minor omission that I had left off, which he then corrected.

I know during the lengthy wait, I changed my build many times. I always checked the important items, but glossed over the small details. Luckily my SA caught my omission for me. I guess the moral of my story is - It helped to have a SA that had my back.

Good thing that the market is nuts and a pink GTS with poop colored leather and a puke yellow top will sell with markup. They'll gladly keep it to sell at an extra profit. Greed is predictable.
Ask for another allocation if you don't want it. Preferably before it arrives. Driving with regret at this price range is nasty. Or sell it yourself and make some dough.

My previous experience was much like the process mentioned above. They didn't have the words to explain how this happened.
My SA said they we do everything possible to get me a new allocation and be first in line (again) for their allocations.

we'll see.

In my case, I've made one change since the order was submitted. SA confirmed via email and I doubled checked on Porsche.com which reflected the latest change.
Sorry to hear such a mishap with the OP order.

When I placed my order they sent a DocuSign with the build specifics. Along with that was a sales sheet with all the pricing laid out. Deal was done from my kitchen table in a matter of minutes. It's a shame other dealerships don't handle orders this way. By the way this was at Porsche of the Main Line.
Sorry to hear they screwed up your order, I would be disappointed for sure.

Just out of morbid curiosity, would you mind telling us your spec versus the one that was actually ordered?

I am curious how far the differences were. I know the color is different (which colors?), but what else? I'm just curious how far two different GTS models can be, aside from color.

LOL, but can't even get the color correct? That's really incompetent.

Here is my build code for those curious. PN2DU8U7

The normal manager who inputs the orders was on vacation, so they have no idea (or wouldn't tell me) who filled out the order. Either way...you will see that my spec is GT silver and pretty decently optioned. Nothing even close to what was input.

Sounds like they signed you up for an allocation that was already locked, and one that someone likely walked away from. I was offered an allocation for a GT3 but the spec was already locked. My guess is the SA failed to communicate this to you.
