992 facelift with hybrid Powertrain spotted

The only pure electric range you need on a car like this is enough to get out of your development to the first main road, on EV power only, so as not to disturb the neighbors with the exhaust, and some juice to prewarm the cats before the engine fires. You don't need a plug-in for that, the battery should retain enough for that. After that, the regular hybrid dynamics of kinetic energy recovery and co-assist with the engine, and you are good to go. No need to carry the extra weight of needing to charge the pack externally. Hopefully Porsche examines how people really use a car like the 911 as a hybrid.

I totally agree with you that this is inevitable but like I said earlier, it will be a sad day. As much as I think the 918 is an incredible car, I'd actually rather have my manual transmission C2S that weighs 600 lbs. less. Actually, I'd rather have the 918 and drive it for a year, then sell it and buy another C2S and pocket the difference
Have you even driven a hybrid 911? Or are you simply basing your opinion on the theoretical idea of a hybrid 911?
Why not give it a chance?
I've never actually driven the 918, but have been in right seat for several laps at Thermal, and that thing is amazing, even tho the tech is almost a decade old.
Give it a chance. The dwarves at Stuttgart know what they are doing.

I've only test driven a Tesla ... and while I was wow'ed by the sheer amount of tech on board, I have to say, the drive experience left a lot to be desired. Having said that, I hope it was clear from my message above that I meant it in jest and with my tongue firmly wedged against my cheek.

Why do you say that?

Have owned a hybrid for a long time now, and I still enjoy pulling off in pure quiet…just as I also enjoy the burbling coming from my 911. People can learn to enjoy both. It doesn’t have to be either.

hey if its a mild hybrid that boosts the 1000 to 2500 rpm, its welcome. it will fill in the gap. I had a panamera hybrid, off the line it jumped the 991 gt3. the gt3 caught up very quickly, but it was faster off the line because of the electric engine.

This hybrid is faster than most cars, and many performance cars... It also gets 24 mpg and weighs 3 tons... If you haven't driven one, then you don't know what you're missing and have little room to comment. The weight is down low and is handled well by the suspension and the brakes.
This EV is just as fast as my 911, handles fine and is a conveyance. It is a utility car and serves that exact role perfectly. We didn't buy it to do anything else and have been blown away by how seamless it has integrated into our lives. We paid about USD 33 dollars in charging last month, had we done the same in a ICE vehicle, it would have been over USD 135...
This sports car is going to be a dinosaur soon and I will regret when I can no longer hear it come to life and move me around... the sunset is coming and appropriate here. If you aren't interested in hybrid or electric 911s the time to buy and hold is now.
