As stated in the pdf, this applies to 2020 and 2021 992s. Since your car is a 2022 you don't need the upgrade as I assume your ConCon value is HIGH not LOW; and you have PCM6. Correct?
The upgrade I assume restricts polling of various modules causing battery drain and ultimately failure.

Going in for 1st service on the 6th, (2022 Targa RAS) should I tell them I want to have the upgrade done, or will they do it automatically? I printed out the service bulletin 2229 (thank you Siberian) to bring with me.
What does this upgrade actually do?
I just told them to fix it, and that they could keep the car until it was fixed. In fairness to my dealer, Porsche Irvine, that roughly coincided with the release of this bulletin and it’s been fine since. While mine is a MY20 car and this bulletin does apply, unlike your car, my attitude with things like this is to stand back and let them sort it out.
Nice! Now all I have to do is convince my genius SM at the alas only dealership in the State that despite it being clearly relevant to my car he insists it doesn't apply. Where do they find these people...? Anyway not driving 700 miles round trip at this time of year.
2020 C2. 8,000 miles. At the dealer for the same issue. Software update and battery check.
Got the car back on 12/31 between snow storms. Service Writer said update installed. The battery was charged overnight and checked out ok twice. It’s sat for a week because of a lot of snowpack on the roads. Went out to drive it today and battery is dead. Here we go again.

Sorry to hear that; believe me I can feel your frustration. The things work, and work, and work....and then they don't. Crazy.

I don't want to belabor the point but please ask for a copy of the VAL showing the previous and current CCU version. Not that I don't believe the "service writer", it's Trust But Verify. Show me.
I assume the car was in a (heated) garage during the week it sat and not under a pile of snow...

Just to provide a bit of info, even if Lithium Battery was in Garage at 32 degrees it should not be losing voltage, or discharge itself. Yes the voltage may read a tenth or so difference MAX at close to freezing but it will not create more of a SELF DISCHARGE or Discharge the Battery. Also, you may also get a little less overall Capacity when a lithium battery is close to freezing, but you will not see or notice this ever that being this is a "starter battery" that just starts the Car over the course of 2~3 seconds then is being charged by the Car again. So it is NOT the cold that will discharge that battery. Its either the Car itself, or the Batteries internal BMS. Just saying that in case a Porsche Sevice person tries to say this.
Totally agree other than by 40 below your battery will discharge, trust me, it's why we have heating blankets for them up here. I was just asking as the SM may use that as a "well you left it outside in the rain? No wonder...". But no it shouldn't have an adverse effect unless you're really up North. My take has always been it's in the BMS and I was hoping the TSB#2229 would solve this issue. However, as I mentioned in an earlier post, because of the interrelated and interdependent nature of vehicle architecture the phantom discharge may be caused by the countless accessories such as PVTS, anti-theft, CarPlay, Sirius... Just appalling in a car of this cache where "excellence is expected".
Update on my car at the shop. The car has been with them for over 2 weeks to perform drain detection. I shared with them the software upgrade that was shared here too.
Today then updated me saying they found 2 active draws.
Power draw from the computer module
Power draw from the seat motor.
They submitted the detection to Porsche engineers and waiting for them to get back with how to proceed. Will keep you all posted.
Did they perform the upgrade? If they did, was that prior to detecting the two draws? You might ask if PCNA will issue a new TSB based on this. I firmly believe the draws can be virtually anywhere, like why the seat motor fercryinoutloud? I'm assuming the PCM or computer module may be receiving constant "updates" from the BMS ... I'm sure it's frustrating for Porsche but this battery issue should never have left the lab... Please keep us posted!
My dealership also did the seat motor current draw fix. That was about a yr ago and it didn’t work, battery would die after 1 day. Replaced battery under warranty but still if I leave for a week without tender, it disconnects due to under voltage. No accessories.
2020 C4S garaged
I believe my battery drain problem is now fixed after the bulletin/fix in the DIY channel was implemented. (2021 C4S). Just left the car for 10-days in the garage and went on a trip in my RV. When I got back... the power was still on and engine fired up immediately! Previously it would have died after 2-3 days. I think I can relax now.
@ssbn619 did your dealer actually do the TSB#2229? Seems @aquatone had his dealer do this and it solved the issue on his 2021. So very curious as to what your dealer did other than the seat motor. Thanks for letting us know
