Default 992 PSE Programming IS Possible, I think

I found a link to an old thread that included information about upgrading the 992 without PSE to have most of the PSE functionality. My dealer was willing to do this, I just got the car back I will let you know the results. It does seem significantly louder at low speeds.

I had my 992 Targa 4S (without PSE) done a few months back, I posted on it. Based on my previous 992 C4S coupe with PSE that I just traded in, when I got the targa - I would say it is about 80% as loud as my 992 with PSE.

I do have a question for you. My dealer programmed the 1st "favorite" toggle switch to activate the PSE (as well as it does it automatically when in sport/sports+).. But I cannot program my 2nd position toggle switch - if I hit it, it just says need to program it. But cannot on the PCM screen. Is this the case for you?

I can however program the steering wheel favorite with no issue.

How did the addition of PSE to your 992 work out? I’m curious, because I’ll be doing the same thing after I install the exhaust. Just waiting to receive it. I talked with my local Porsche service manager about doing this. He’s cool with doing it. He even discussed it with a mechanic. Both said they didn’t know how to do it, what’s involved and would have to research it once I bring the car in.

Thanks for the attachment. I’m going to give it to the mechanic. I’m sure it will make it much easier for them to oblige and do it for a nominal fee or for free.

Where did they assign the open/close exhaust valve switch? Is it a feature in the PCM display screen or one of the assignable buttons just below the PCM screen?

They assigned mine as toggle switch 1 just below the screen. The cool thing you also see it on the PCM (where you can also check or uncheck it) and when you dial the sports chrono *** to sport or sports+ it automatically turns on just like if you had PSE.

Thanks to Richard_Wallace, I’m getting this done at my local dealer end of next month.
Getting charged 1hr of service, but still way cheaper than the $3K for PSE. Happy to have passed on PSE on my build.

If it's programmable I assume it's valved. Does this mean you can just disconnect the wiring to the valve and have it open at all times?

Yes I did have this done to my car. I am very very happy with the results. My car now has 5000 miles on it and the sound is getting better and better.

Default What is my technician missing?? Not working…

My 992 was not built with PSE. So I had my dealer add the PSE in the PCM so that I could turn it on/off via one of the diamond buttons as I have heard from others that it successfully added @ 80% to the stock sound. Unfortunately I notice ZERO difference. Like the valves are not opening/closing. Did the mechanic miss something? Were there additional software changes that needed to be completed? Anyone that has information please let me know. My dealer mechanic stated he doesn’t know what to do next and is asking to speak to another technician that has done this successfully with stock exhaust.
