Porsche InnoDrive option
At the moment, I plan to order InnoDrive for my Targa 4S (that is, whenever I finally get my allocation). I only plan to drive my Targa maybe once a week to work, during my early Sunday morning escapes, and when my wife and I head out for long weekend road trips. I will never track my car. I like the adaptive cruise control but InnoDrive has several other features that I think I would like. I also think the features offered with InnoDrive have improved since the 2020 and maybe even 2021 models. My question is whether InnoDrive forces me to drive the speed limit (that is without me pressing the accelerator pedal or turning off the system). In other words, let's say the speed limit is 70 MPH and I want to drive 79 MPH. Can I program InnoDrive to ignore the posted speed limit and, instead, keep my desired speed (79 MPH) but keep the other features (such as ALK - Active Lane Keep) active?
Porsche explains that InnoDrive "...regulates driving speed based on high-definition navigation data, radar, and video sensor technology" and that "...driving speed is predictively adapted to speed restrictions and road topography." These descriptions suggest to me that I cannot use InnoDrive and its features at higher than the posted speed limit.
This is the only thread I could find on this issue:

There you can see motown says: "InnoDrive no... has ACC and ALK (not sure why ALK and LKA arnt the same) plus road signs. Horrible for 3k. I wouldn't do it again. I tried it for a day when on a road trip and thought I was driving miss daisy. Forced me to drive the speed limit."
PorscheSince2013 says: "I got no comfort or assistance options...They are all overpriced and poorly implemented by Porsche."
Dr. G says: "I got Surround View, LCA, ACC with Innodrive. For me, Innodrive was not about autonomous driving. I’ve had two heart attacks - one while driving. With Innodrive, the car will stop itself and turn on the hazards in the case that a driver becomes unresponsive. It was more of an insurance policy from my standpoint."
aquatone says: "[statements by motown are] incorrect and misleading - Innodrive and LKA do not "force" you to keep to the speed limit. Just put your foot down on the accelerator to override them. You still have complete control over these systems while they are active. The amount of misinformation on these aids on this forum is striking. You don't have to have them if you feel they spoil the character of the 911 but they don't take anything away either."
So, for those of you who opted for InnoDrive, is it possible to set the ACC at a speed higher than the posted speed limit and still have the other features of InnoDrive active?

PID will initially drive at the speed at which you set it to drive. But when it detects a speed change (up or down) it will adjust to that speed, but you can manually override that and set it back. The speed adjustment can be annoying because it is sometimes drastic (reduced speed mainly) and may even catch a wrong speed limit from an access road. But since you should be monitoring the car it is not a big deal. You should be aware though especially if a car is following you too closely. But the ACC is fantastic as is the ALK. LKA is completely different than ALK - LKA just nudges you when it detects you are getting too close to the lane line.
Overall I do like the PID.
EDIT: FYI, by speed change detection I mean the speed limit and not ACC. ACC will adjust your speed temporarily based on what the traffic in from of you is doing but will not exceed your set speed.

My suggestion:
Take a car with Innodrive to a mountain road (tight bends, hairpin turns, etc. AND VERY FEW SPEED LIMIT SIGNS) and drive "aggressively" for about five minutes without Innodrive.
Then switch Innodrive on and let the car do everything: acceleration, deceleration and steering (you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel, but the car will do the steering without your input).
You will probably be impressed by the performance of Innodrive ..... and the fact it does not get tired.
Based on my experience of driving a 992 Turbo S in the Alps, with plenty of mountain passes (France, Italy, Switzerland)

PID can be configured to automatically “consider” (conform to) speed limits or to permit the driver to selectively choose to conform to a new speed limit, as well as permitting (in either mode) the driver to override the current speed limit.
Activation of ALK is independent of PID.

I didn’t read all your post, sorry, but did read your comment that PID “forced you to drive the speed limit”. You do know you can unselect the option that identifies the posted speed limit, and adjust the car’s speed, accordingly. Just deselect that option and you can set whatever speed you want.
PID, IMO, is one of the best options Porsche offers…especially if you drive a lot in traffic.

I was impressed it even navigated around a tight traffic circle. I entered the traffic circle, with PID on at set to 65mph, going about 65 mph (way too fast for the circle)..it automatically slowed down while entering the circle, and stayed at about 35mp while traversing, then as soon as I exited onto a straight road, it accelerated again to the speed i had set it to before I entered the circle. Pretty cool.

You do realize that PID does not default to on. You have to activate it each time you start the car. So don’t activate it…but there are times in traffic that PID is a game changer…unless you are a one in a million drivers who enjoy driving in stop and go traffic 😂😳
You are most welcome.
No impact, whatsoever, to driving the car yourself. The only downside is the cost for having the privilege of being able to let technology assist…think of the automotive technology evolution, over the years, and how it’s helped save lives, and reduce accidents….from pre-tensioning seat belts, air bags, to ABS, Blind Spot Monitoring, to traction control, etc, etc…
Time marches on, and so does technology in every facet of our lives.
