Post 2022 allocation released in Dec 2021?

Hello my rennlist friends! I wonder if I have just got an allocation for my 2022 C2 demand order. Please help me figure out.

I submitted my order at a local dealer in late Sep, and was the 2nd on the waiting list. The dealer got only one allocation in the Nov batch, so I didn't get it at that time. My sales man told me that the next batch of allocations was expected to arrive in three months from then, which is Feb 2022, so I kept waiting. Today, to my surprise, I received an official email from Porsche (not the dealer) congratulating me on my C2 order and sharing with me my Track Your Dream (TYD) link. I opened the link, and it did show my order with my exact configuration and the expected timeline of order fulfillment. Notably, the change freeze point is sometime in Mar 2022, and the estimated arrival date is sometime in June 2022.

I texted my sales man about it, but haven't yet heard back, so I don't know what is exactly going on here. Is it real that I finally got the allocation I had been waiting for? Isn't it weird to see an allocation coming out from nowhere between the Nov batch and the upcoming Feb batch? Or is the email just intended to inform me of my submitted demand order?

There was a special allocation this month I also got one. My salesperson had been telling me to expect it in December and I had written about the experience in multiple other threads. Long story short. Congrats. Share ur build.

Same here. Missed the allocations in November but my dealer got one for me in the December release.

^ Congrats. One item of note, when my allocation came thru in November release, the freeze date jumped forward unexpectedly 2 weeks. Be ready, this happened to others also.

On your TYD page, there should be a commission # (mine is a letter followed by 5 digits). Sounds like you're getting a car - congrats!

And yes, freeze dates often move up by a week or more, so make sure you're happy with the build. You WILL NOT be able to make ANY changes after the freeze date (unless maybe your last name is Seinfeld).

All of my prior orders froze early - this one did not but I just notice my ETA advanced by a week from yesterday.

some dealers were scheduled to get December allocations , so it is not surprising . My dealer received few allocations for June build

TYD is not activated until the allocation is secured - so yes, you do "officially" have an allocation.

Thank you all for the congrats and tips! I have just confirmed with my sales man that this is real. So glad that I am finally done with my allocation search sooner than expected. Best of luck to those who are still waiting.

In case you are interested in my build, please find the latest version in http://www.porsche-code.com/PNKP9S37. Comments and suggestions are more than welcome : )

That’s a very interesting build…. No sports chrono or PSE, so going for luxury I am guessing, yet you don’t choose full leather package…

I would not waste money on the insulated glass because I don’t believe it would make much of a difference. The remote park is also useless. It only fits in spot that you can park yourself. Save those money and get leathers.

Drop the “Power Steering Plus”
Totally unnecessary, the stock steering doesn’t need any boosting. I’m not sure why it’s even an option.

I have and do like the Noise Insulated Glass. In Freeway traffic it makes a huge difference in the noise that is made by cars and trucks around you. Doesn’t do anything for the noise (tire noise) made by my C2S, which is quite a bit, but it does almost eliminate external noises from intruding.

how is that physically possible to eliminate sounds from outside from a different glass…? Sound is waveform energy that transfers thru a medium (the glass and air). Can someone explain to me how this lightweight glass absorb the energy? It’s not like it has foam filling…

There is an acoustic film embedded in the glass that you can't see but is designed to minimize the transfer of sound waves. Not unique to the 992 or vehicles for that matter.

We have Acoustic Glass on our 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite, and it really does cut down the sound from outside.

” Acoustic glass helps reduce wind noise in Odyssey models.
  • Tuned specifically to cut wind-noise frequencies, it uses two layers of safety glass with an inside layer of a transparent and elastic acoustic membrane.
  • Odyssey EX-L and above trims have acoustic glass in the windshield.
  • The Odyssey Elite adds acoustic glass to the front- and sliding-door windows as well.“

Good question. Originally, I had sport chrono in my build, and believed that it is a must in a 911. Later, when I discussed my build with my sales man, he pointed out that sport chrono is not necessarily a must, and suggested not selecting it if it is unlikely to be used. After reflecting on whether I might use it, I finally decided to remove it from my build, because (a) I don't track my car and (b) I find the regular sport mode sufficient in non-track driving (will sport plus be too much?). Though, I do miss the chronograph on top of the dashboard. I have been used to it in my macan (the chronograph is included in macan even without sport chrono), and established a feeling that it is one of the most recognizable icons of a porsche. I wish porsche would make the chronograph an independent option in the future.

Despite not being fully sporty, I guess I am not fully ready for luxury. Full leather is probably the option I thought over the most. On one hand, I do love its classy look and touch; on the other hand, I worry about its maintenance and durability. I found multiple threads on rennlist debating about full leather, and I do understand that it does not necessarily cost more maintenance than expected. However, what I am concerned about the most is that if I go full leather, I would be involuntarily cautious about things like whether I am wearing something sharp that might scratch the seat, whether I am parking too long under the sun, whether the raindrops I let in would damage the leather, and whether I am taking enough care of it to prevent it from aging, even if none of these could be a real concern. With this nerve, I don't think that full leather would be able to make me happier (it might end up making me less happy), so I decide to go with the standard interior/seats, just like what I have in my current macan, for the freedom of no caution/worry.

That being said, I am still open to both sport chrono and full leather. Please share if I have any experience with either, and I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
