GT Silver wrap?
Some people imspoke to think its a cool story. I have the only 911 in the world wirh two factory silvers 🤣 thats the main reason why im waiting to decide on paint. Plus wouldnt it devalue it ? Remember i still ahve the option to replace the part if i wajt to sell it
no, because the long dark "glass" piece looks awesome. had it on my 991.2 and loved the look.
I don't think the factory defect stuff yields a higher value car; as things like this can in certain collectible categories. It just looks like someone ****ed up.
I wouldn't worry about them taking it apart and putting it back together improperly -- but if that's a concern, paint in place is a non issue imo.
Painting doesn't automatically devalue the car; esp since there won't be a corresponding collision in the vehicle's history. get a good body shop to respray in the right color, and move on.

How could that ever get out of the factory with quality control... I do not see that as even possible.
Your porsche dealer could have that part prepped and painted for next to nothing... and under warranty. Or even if you had to pay for it, probably less than 600 bucks for time/labor. Have it fixed properly.

it depends on the mechanic that will do it. They dont even know how to do this. When you say “porsche” will fix it, its not porsche. Its a dealer that probably never had to change that part before. Its not simple, trust me i was adviced by more than one person that knows not to touch this. There is no way quality control at the factory let this pass, they obviously saw it. But its not an easy fix so they let the dealer/customer solve this. Porsche did give me some compensation for it, they first wanted to give me a gift card to get a jacket but then agreed to a send a check for an ok amount. They acknokedge it wasnt right.

You are a lot more forgiving than I, most others here would never have taken delivery. Wrapping is nothing more than putting a bandaid on their mistake. Get it fixed right, it's an expensive car.
Do you think whoever buys the car after you will be as understanding. They won't be.

I am always amazed how freaked out people get having to paint a part due to any issue. First it’s not an insurance claim so it’s not going to affect value at all.
Second it is a part that gets no wear and tear and 3rd if you use a certified Porsche paint shop you will be in and out in a few days and you won’t be able to tell it’s been painted. A wrap won’t match better than a properly painted piece.
Make the dealer pay but you choose the best shop. It’s silly to be driving the car with a mismatched panel. And ask for Porsche swag for the inconvenience.

Sorry you had to deal with this. What a bummer. Did you tell them you wanted a new car? If so, what was their response? Painting it is the only option for reasons others have stated. Hope the check was a reasonable amount.
i had waited 6 months for this one i wasnt going to wait for a new car..so i didnt even go that route. Its not a big deal, its a plastic part.. if it would have been part of the metal then i may have returned it
