Showed the pic to my best painter and body shop mgr. Not optimal to paint on car, but can be done and agreed will look way better than wrap.

Some people imspoke to think its a cool story. I have the only 911 in the world wirh two factory silvers 🤣 thats the main reason why im waiting to decide on paint. Plus wouldnt it devalue it ? Remember i still ahve the option to replace the part if i wajt to sell it

no, because the long dark "glass" piece looks awesome. had it on my 991.2 and loved the look.

This is hopefully the only Bentley with two factory purples but that doesn’t make it a good thing.

Painting doesn't automatically devalue the car; esp since there won't be a corresponding collision in the vehicle's history. get a good body shop to respray in the right color, and move on.

I don't think the factory defect stuff yields a higher value car; as things like this can in certain collectible categories. It just looks like someone ****ed up.

I wouldn't worry about them taking it apart and putting it back together improperly -- but if that's a concern, paint in place is a non issue imo.

I strongly disagree... that Bentley is rad.

Your porsche dealer could have that part prepped and painted for next to nothing... and under warranty. Or even if you had to pay for it, probably less than 600 bucks for time/labor. Have it fixed properly.
They broke it...they should fix it IMHO.

Its not simple, trust me i was adviced by more than one person that knows not to touch this. There is no way quality control at the factory let this pass, they obviously saw it. But its not an easy fix so they let the dealer/customer solve this. Porsche did give me some compensation for it, they first wanted to give me a gift card to get a jacket but then agreed to a send a check for an ok amount. They acknokedge it wasnt right.
Another reason they [Porsche] should fix it. I would not have accepted delivery until that happened if dealer tried delivery with the top looking like that!

A good shope and Porsche Certified Collision Center could fix it and should be consulted/demanded for an attempted repair IMHO. Its usually not their 1st rodeo and they'll get it correct and fixed to factory standards (albeit not the one it came with...mismatche roof panels).

Something tells me this may have been an after factory issue...maybe damaged during shipping and tried to fix at the port and post PDI maybe? Can't see that this was done on the line and went thru Porsche AG Q&A and Zuffenhausen unless it was blind man day on the line or something...it stands out so! Get a Porsche Certified Shop to fix it ASAP!

You are a lot more forgiving than I, most others here would never have taken delivery. Wrapping is nothing more than putting a bandaid on their mistake. Get it fixed right, it's an expensive car.

Do you think whoever buys the car after you will be as understanding. They won't be.

they offered to replace it , its me that doesnt want it opened because i was adviced not to. Its not a hour job, its a lengthy dissasembly. I have a serious pet peve with rattles. I also got a decent compensation check from porsche. Im at peace with them. I may have it repainted as is.. trust me, im the same as everyone

I am always amazed how freaked out people get having to paint a part due to any issue. First it’s not an insurance claim so it’s not going to affect value at all.
Second it is a part that gets no wear and tear and 3rd if you use a certified Porsche paint shop you will be in and out in a few days and you won’t be able to tell it’s been painted. A wrap won’t match better than a properly painted piece.
Make the dealer pay but you choose the best shop. It’s silly to be driving the car with a mismatched panel. And ask for Porsche swag for the inconvenience.

Sorry you had to deal with this. What a bummer. Did you tell them you wanted a new car? If so, what was their response? Painting it is the only option for reasons others have stated. Hope the check was a reasonable amount.

i had waited 6 months for this one i wasnt going to wait for a new car..so i didnt even go that route. Its not a big deal, its a plastic part.. if it would have been part of the metal then i may have returned it
