Default Front Defroster issue

I can't seem to get any air out of the front defroster for some reason. I hear the fan (subdued and not roaring) but no air coming out. I've tried various setting in CLIMATE in the PCM to no avail. Button lights amber when pushed and there's a difference between OFF and ON that you can faintly hear but not the rush of air hitting the windscreen that you'd expect.

I took the car out yesterday by -25F and the windshield promptly frosted over solid. Unable to clear it I limped home leaning out of the window to see. Not cool...

Any thoughts?

I’ve had no issue. It works so well that I have been very satisfied and impressed by it.

Same on my 992 as it was on the Cayman.
Close all the vents and make sure the air conditioner is turned on, even in winter.
Yeah, I know that doesn't make any sense.

Thanx BillyX, but alas, no change. I can hear the fan, close all vents but no air to the windshield or even the flat vents by the chrono clock have no air coming out. This is really weird and a show stopper as I can't drive in this weather sans defroster... any other suggestions truly welcome!

Don't think so as I "think" I do get heat in the car and the rear defroster does work as I can see the back window clearing...

Dang.
Just to be sure, I have the far right climate control on Auto. Here's my settings on the screen. First is off, and second is front defroster on.
Could there be ice or snow obstructing the air intake? I have no idea where that is on a 992.

Thank you for the helpful images!

Car is in a heated garage, so no snow.

Since car is on Sync (as per your pic), both sides are in sync it doesn't matter what you set it (the far right) to.

My settings from memory are identical to your Front Defroster On the only difference being Style is STRONG

Will check other vents as I was so concentrating on DEFROST that I didn't notice whether the other vents worked.

Disconnected hose (from all the rattling)??

Just checking you have the air conditioner on? In my cars, even with the HVAC on full blast front windshield, they won't clear unless A/C is on.

Yes, if you disconnect the A/C the DEFROSTER turns OFF.

I need to check under BCM1 -> DRIVE LINK CHECKS-> Defroster flap control motor as well as Left and Right defroster flap positioning motor and determine what state they're in. Stay tuned

Given I was so focused on the DEFROST I didn't check the other vents. I confirm I have no air coming from any vents, though I do hear the DEFROST fan kick in when I select it.

Since heat/vents are now semi-intelligent they will not blast you with cold air before it reaches a temperature. I thus selected as cold as it would go and LO with A/C on and nothing from the central vents (yes, I opened them...). At a loss as without a defroster I can't drive the car this winter.

lifted elsewhere:
if your 997.2 has climate control, maybe there's a problem with the cabin temperature monitor? Do you get the same problem when in non-auto temperature mode?

Wonder if that could be the same problem with your car siberian?

It could be. I'm reviewing my VAL dump to try and find what could have caused this. Was there any solution at the time to 997.2 problem I could try and emulate?\

Yes it's the same whether in auto or manual mode

Thank you for your help!

Makes perfect sense, the A/C dehumidifies. Much more effective than warm damp air being blown on a cold glass surface.
