Default New and old CarPlay issues

New issue: After starting the car, CarPlay automatically kicks in (via Bluetooth). For the past nine months, I would then hit Media on the PCM to use SiriusXM or SD card, and all was fine. Now after CarPlay kicks in, when I go back to Media, the volume control is adjusting "Announcements" volume rather than "Entertainment" volume (and the music volume is then very low). This is new. The only way I have found to go back to adjusting "entertainment" volume, is to first find something in CarPlay, such as a podcast, that has sound and then the "entertainment" volume control is in effect. I can then go back to "Media" and volume works normally. Any idea why this is happening, why it just showed up after nine months, and how to fix it?

Old issue: I have set a "diamond" button to go to Home. It works properly in other modes, but when the PCM is in CarPlay, the diamond button does not do anything, so I have to touch the Home icon on the PCM screen to get there. Any solutions to this?

New issue: Maybe the last thing you had active in CarPlay was a mapping app? Just an idea.
Old issue: same deal here and I've found no workaround. It seems that the diamond buttons don't sit above the CarPlay in the PCM UI pecking order but the Home button on the PCM itself does.

There are a ton of iOS15 CarPlay audio bugs. It's not an issue with the PCM. It's on Apple's side. They still haven't fixed everything.

Are you using Waze? That can cause issue 1. It's a known bug.

Quitting and restarting Waze or navigating to a destination can help fix this.

True, in my Mercedes I can't make phone calls via CarPlay. They go mute with no way back.

If I use Waze while driving and then don't completely exit the app (swipe up and hard exit) before I start the car the next time it automatically connects and picks it up the next time I start my car and it will show 'announcements' not 'entertainment' when I adjust the volume, even though I have Waze volume completely muted in the app. If you want to keep Waze running but have normal PCM volume, go into the Waze app and toggle the volume on/off in the app and the PCM will pick up entertainment again.
