I'm contemplating getting Porsche's roof rack. I understand it only fit cars with the glass sunroof (or maybe either sunroof). I also understand at some point one needed to option preparation for roof rack in addition to the sunroof. My car is a 2021, built at the end of April 2021. When I ordered it and it locked (January 16, 2021) the extra step of the preparation line item did not exist on the configurator so I obviously didn't add it to my order.

Does anyone know when that requirement was implemented and, more importantly, when the cutoff was for the preparation for the rack. Further, does anyone with the rack have photos of the specific elements that the rack attaches to? The photos I've seen seem to show the rack fitted adjacent to the fixed portion of the roof ahead of the opening glass panel for the front bar and behind the opening panel, again on the fixed portion for the back bar, baffling me on how this might attach.

Obviously, before I order up a rack I need to ensure it will be able to attach. My SA doesn't know.

The 2020 and 2021 992 requires the metal or glass sunroof to fit a rack. The 2022 can be optioned for a Roof System - essentially the channels and latch points for $60 w/o having to have a sunroof. Not sure if this is also required for sunroof buyers in 2022 but as a 2021 owner, you must have a sunroof to use a rack. That is the only requirement.

Thanks 3rdpedal, mine's a 2021 with glass sunroof. Now, hopefully someone can post up some close up photos of the actual mounting, I'd love to see it and then go confirm on my car that I've actually got the necessary fixtures.
