Rock chip guard concerns

Hi all.. I just got my new 992 delivered last week and have an appointment to have it PPF tomorrow.
The installer gave me a disclaimer that removing the stock rock chip guard on a new car has some risk in removing paint... I guess there can be a risk but anyone know or heard of this ever happening on a new car.??
Ive done a few myself on older 911s but he has me alittle worried. thanks!

The risk is very-very low. Your detailer is just managing expectations and protecting himself. Don't worry about it.

Risk is very low, but a skilled detailer should have no trouble making that risk even lower.
It’s actually more problematic to remove it when it has yellowed — that yellow is the glue getting hard and brittle. Freshly applied, much less of an issue.

I agree with others. For factory paint on a new car, unless the PPF installer has no idea what the are doing, the risk of paint removal is very, very low. Many people that have no experience remove them as DIY projects with no issues, so a professional in the trade will be fine. Installer just practicing CYA measures.

I might think about a different installer , if he has no more faith in his skill than this.

A little off topic, but does anyone know why the Configurator will not permit the selection of the black chip guard option while also having selected the lightweight sound insulating glass? I was thinking to add the black colored guard on my racing yellow C2 build ,(which freezes in 2 weeks).

That must be the answer. I just checked the configurator and I can’t find the black stone guard option anymore. Thanks for your help!

On original paint, especially new original paint, very low risk. Make sure your installer is very experienced, more for the outcome of the install. Installers should give the disclaimer that it can happen, but that should not be the norm.
