Given the container mess in California, perhaps a good thing. It's going to take a while to clear this mess up...

Container mess is only really impacting LA and along Beach, two ports where Porsche doesn’t deliver to in California.

Not at all, its happening all round the world. LA/Long Beach just get the headlines in the US because they handle 40% of US container traffic.

I was talking about specifically with respect to where Porsche delivers in California. Not worldwide, not for other goods. A lot of my work focuses on supply chain, I was responding to the parameters of his comment in a thread about pricing for cars made in Germany and delivery at PECLA.

But, yeah, sure, “headlines”.

Fair enough. I drove up PCH the other day before dawn. The ocean was lit up like a Christmas tree.

Drove up the coast last weekend and saw the same. Starts around Newport and continues all the way up to Oxnard. Wild.

Compared to the insanity i'm seeing on basic American cars, that doesn't seem that nuts.

I checked with about a dozen dealers in CA in the last month. A few would sell at RFP, but those had no allocations, so deposit to be on a waitlist. And the wait was expected to be into spring/summer 2022 to get an allocation. The few with an available allocation were $10k over MSRP for a base car.
