Default Aftermarket exhaust...Any recommendations

Hi all,

I have a 992 s with sport exhaust but am not quite happy with the sound. It's better now after about 5000mi but I believe this car deserves a bit louder and more exotic tone. I live in the middle east so pretty much have to ship any exhaust parts, so store/seller location doesn't matter much. I am also considering replacing the cats along with the exhaust (not sure yet I want to do headers swap). The brands I am considering are as following (has to work with OEM valve):

- Akrapovic titanium (exhaust and cats)
- JCR titanium (exhaust and cats)
- IPE stainless steel (exhaust and cats; also has headers)
- Capristo stainless steel (exhaust and cats)

The car might get tuned at a later stage FYI. Any recommendations from your experience when it comes to sound, performance gain and build quality?

it was the best decision I ever made. But the combo is needed together to make it really shine.

I sold my car though.

soul cats and Akrapovic exhaust is a mix that I will consider. Enjoy the upgrade to turbo

Also check out Kline Innovation. Their Inconel exhausts wail. They tune their exhausts for sound comparing different metals. They offer a less expensive stainless exhaust but it will obviously sound different as a result of different metal.

The Akrapovic slip on exhaust on my 4S at 1,500 miles has a much better tone than the PSE. The cold start is unpleasently loud for about 2 minutes. Others encourage the addition of the Soul sport cat. But, the cold start is louder. Here's the thread to help you with your decision: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1248...soul-cats.html

We have experience with all of the systems that you named except for the JCR.

Out of the other three the IPE is the best sounding by far. The Akrapovic has the best quality and is the most lightweight being made from Titanium. The Capristo has good quality and sound but not enough to trump the other two brands in those categories.

You will absolutely need a tune if your replace the factory catalytic converters. Otherwise you will more than likely have a Check Engine Light and the car won't run perfectly smooth.

When we were building our 992 Turbo S we considered all of these options and went through all of their characteristics thoroughly. We chose the full IPE Titanium system that included the Headers and we couldn't be any happier with the performance and sound. It eliminated arguably the weakest part of this car which is the sound.

Feel free to write to me privately so I can help you make the correct decision for yourself.

Don’t forget about Fabspeed — made in the US with some solid engineering and Porsche expertise behind them.

I have the Akropovic and soul cats. I did get check engine lights occasionally but had no issues with the drivability. Sound is awesome and yes, cold start is really loud. But M-Engineering can fix that with their tuning software.

I had issues with my 991.2 spitting out black condensation water from the aftermarket center exhaust replacement I did (Sharkwerks), it was a mess and stained the garage floor, walls, and doors. I don't want that again, so I'm looking for an exhaust option now for my 992 that adds sounds, no drone, can be controlled with the PSE button, and does not mess with the stock cats... and that doesn't spray dirty water everywhere. Sharkwerks is an amazing company and the center muffle replacement sounded absolutely perfect on the 991.2... They don't do anything for the 992 yet, so need some suggestions for the 992 - must be under $3,000-

IPE and Soul are the two exhaust options that check all the boxes that you mentioned above. Feel free to message me privately so that I can help provide you with information on them and potentially get an order rolling.
