Default Buckets vs sofa for the GTS

How many people are getting the lightweight packages vs the regular 4 ways/18 ways seat?

I keep going back ,and forth wether I should get buckets. Buckets kind of defeat the purpose of a semi daily driver nature of the GTS.

I've done the daily driver thing with buckets. It's entirely doable providing that you're limber, but too be clear it's a compromised experience. If you plan on regularly tracking the car and/or make driving it an event, knock yourself out. With the bucket, you're opting for a non-adjustable seat, but you will also feel more connected to what's going on and what the car is doing. Driving with a proper bucket seat feels different.

That being said, none of the Porsche seat options are "sofas". If holding is a concern, the 18 ways do a very nice job keep you in place. For road trips, the ability to make seat adjustments is a wonderful thing. It should be noted that folks who don't fit the 18 ways aren't going to fit the buckets. So, if that's any kind of issue or concern, skip them.

It comes down to "Why do you want buckets?" I roll my eyes when folks talk about weight savings on a car that weighs 3400-3500lbs -- it's not a reason to do it. If you've never sat in a Porsche bucket, find a 991/992 GT3 at a dealer or make friends with someone at a cars and coffee. It's not a decision that you want to go in blindly on, because if the car isn't comfortable for you, you're not going to drive it.

This is the last daily driver that I had with a bucket. Yes, I am insane. LOL

If you don't need the backseat, I'd get the buckets. Unless you have flexibility issues, I think it's fine. They are very cool and really change the feel of the car.

I didn't vote because it would depend on the intended use of the car . If it were a part time car even at my age with a knee that is in big trouble I would still get the buckets but as a daily no way . I may have considered it if I were younger even in a daily but the issue I face is that I am not usually a point A top B driver . I have to hop in. and out often enough so make it a deal breaker . The buckets are beautiful looking and the most functional in terms of seat position . They just aren't comfortable in a daily . Plus without memory I would become neurotic finding my exact place on simple things like my wife driving it . She actually can deal with it better than I can but even she (smaller , lighter , more agile .younger ) likes to sometime relax and read in her car and buckets are a no deal.

All Porsche seat options come down to personal comfort.

For me, the 18 way sport seats simply kill my back and make driving any longer than 40 minutes unbearable.

LWB, on the other hand, are perfect. I can drive in them for hours without ill effect. And ingress and egress is easy-peasy.

TL;DR Get the seat that makes you comfortable.

I would say the Stradia's about about equally as comfy as the OEM Porsche seats. Neither is more extreme than the other. At least the Stradia recline.

For me the question is... will you ever need the back seat (child?).

I had had them all and the Buckets on both a GT4 and a GT3.

Buckets are cool looking and one can justify the upgrade especially if you want the total Carbon Fiber experience/build. But- PIA getting in and out of them. Most Wives will hate them and limited access to back seats.

I like the 4 ways best but I do not need memory and since all Porsche seats are pretty darn good no need to pay for anything extra.

And in the end- whatever option you get is not going to matter at resale/trade

I can see ppl walking away from a 4-way spec'd car if alternatives are available. Same w buckets, but you'll also have ppl specifically wanting your car for the buckets.

I get what you're saying, but no matter what you spec, there will always be secondary buyers that want something else.
I never concern myself with the next guy.

Agreed. But the other fellow mentioned resale.

I also don't worry about what my girl's new boyfriend might think of the things I buy for her should we part ways ...

These seats create unique driving experience, they look so cool; and if you don't get them... I'm sure you'd be thinking about them all the time when you are driving.

What I don't like:
- Getting in/out
- No adjustments during long trip
- No backseats
My opinion, on a GT3/RS/GT2RS these seats make more sense because those are very focused machines. On a GTS you may want the versatility and get the 18-way. Of course if the GTS is your weekend warrior then none of above applies.

My 2 cents ( and it’s worth exactly that&#128514, I’m 6 1/ 172 and would be described as extremely fit. The buckets are an issue for me not because of any challenges getting in and out of them.
The rake on the buckets are such that there is a gap between the small of my back and the seat back. As a result in the P cars where I have LWCBs I have to have a small foam insert/ rolled up towel etc placed in between my lower back and the seat back. On a 1 hr drive it’s really not a big deal but any decent road trip it always rears it’s ugly head.
