Porsche design and a way for add’l income ? My 992 has leather backed 18 ways (an fairly expensive option) as I preferred the consistent look of this on my cab).

I also went with the leather back 18 ways since I have a cab. On a coupe I would’ve skipped it since with tinted windows you don’t see it.
Yes... this has been the case for years (it certainly was with the 991.1).
I have the 14 ways in my 991 and like the leather backs.
On my 992 order I put the 18 ways. I went back and forth on whether to add the leather backs on them, but my build cost had gotten so high that this is where I drew the line. My SA convinced me that it would be hardly noticeable on my car, which is a coupe. It will likely be the one thing I regret on my build in 2 years.
My incoming car has the 18way seats. Is the contour of the back seat such that it could be wrapped with film to protect it from scratches? No small kids to worry about but plenty of guitar cases and an occasional amp to through in the back

The texture and color of the seat backs do a nice job hiding scratches. Kids ride in the back of my car regularly and no visible scratches after 25k miles.

In a coupe, you'll only see the seat backs when you go back there.
I covered the backs on my 18-ways in leather. It comes down to personal taste obviously YMMV. Having more plastic was not commensurate of spending six-figures on a sports car. Especially when you spec a ‘full leather’ interior. I may not see them when I’m driving, but I have to see the backs every time I walk into my garage. They can look a bit out of place & that’s a big reason why some go with 14-way sport seats to avoid. I also like that it will be easier to maintain with my son in the back if there is ever a scratch or scuff.

Not true. I see the back of my seats every time I fold the seats down to set my briefcase behind my seat. I also see them every time I buckle my son in the rear passenger seat. I think the plastic looks nice though as it matches the standard interior trim. But on my incoming TTS I got the leather backs with CF inlays.
Hm...true, I wonder what the reason for this is? Since sport plus seats are more expensive, you'd figure if would be the other way around? (e.g. regular sport seats using cheaper plastic backing and more expensive sport plus seats using leather backing)
