Default Final Sanity Check Before Order Demand

I thought I'd post my proposed-final build for a sanity check from all of you. I have an appointment with my SA on Wednesday to submit my order demand and get started on this. Here's my rationale:
  • This is my first Porsche but not my first sportscar. I know that I like builds that are "lovers not fighters" because it's not like I'm going to go street racing. I live in Las Vegas so I'm basically just looking for something that will look nice parked out front at Mandalay Bay
  • Having said that, I fell in love with launch control during my visit to PEC LA, that was a ton of fun. So I included it here although I might not have if I had chosen a cabriolet.
  • I have been reading up on global supply issues and its clear that a big problem is the shipping logistics. I'm getting in line now, and my SA told me that it would result in an April 2022 delivery, which would be great timing for my birthday. But I'm well prepared to get this car early next summer, I think that's more realistic and I'm a patient man. If this ends up being rolled over into a MY2023 purchase, that's OK too.
  • Before any of you even start with me, yes, I realize I put $4k wheels on a base Carrera But I didn't want to get the same Spyders that everyone else seems to have and it adds to the head-turning factor (at least I think so).
  • The only other change that I'm considering right now would be to the slate interior. I think that also goes well with GR and I might go for the full leather.

All feedback is welcome

I would definitely do the full leather interior. At this price point it's worth the extra ~ 3-4k.

Looks good. I like the dual pipe sport exhaust look better than the oval I think. As for PSE, My 981 Boxster S sounds fine without PSE and I'm sure your Carrera will too. I did order PSE on my CAB though.
Maybe add the roof rack prep for the next guy($60) and the rear wiper - it's a car and should be practical.

Easy to change wheels. Can't change interior. I would put the money toward the leather interior and upgrade the wheels later if you really can't live with the OEM wheels.
You really need to sit in the seats if you can mange it. I started with 14 ways in my first couple cars then ordered a 981 Boxster GTS and it only came with 18 ways. Last two orders have had 18s.

I would recommend the Carrera Classics. Sportier and easier to clean.

Consider the black interior (with or without stitching) and red seat belts.

Don't get too hung up now on each option, you have plenty of time to change things around before it locks.

Here are the changes I would make. (operative word I).

http://www.porsche-code.com/PNW39Q52

Classics instead of Turbo Wheels

you are in Vegas - Ventilated Seats
Guards Red Seat Belts and Tach
Full Leather in Black w. Chalk Stitching

Very disciplined build. Well done.

Notes/Comments
  • You're going to spend all of your time in the inside of the car. Make it nice. Go with the leather interior. Exterior of the car is for everyone else. Interior is for you.
  • Turbo wheels look good on a Base Carrera. There is a street parked 911 Cabrio with Turbo wheels on my block. It elevates things.
  • Power Folding Mirrors... unless you have a very specific parking situation, I'd skip them. The car is so wide that they barely protrude past the rear fenders anyway. They also make a 911 look stupid as heck when parked -- I have friends that disabled them for that reason alone.
  • Sport tailpipes in Black is a spendy option, but I understand why you're doing it and, like the Turbo wheels, elevates things.
  • LCA is a must have and helpful on this car. It works very well. Pays for itself that one time you don't notice that car speeding up in the adjacent lane or hanging out in the blind spot.
  • If you ditch surround view and the folding mirrors, you're more than halfway to full leather interior. The standard parking sensors are entirely adequate. That said, if you've curbed a wheel before or have a tendency to curb wheels where you park, the surround view might pay for itself.

I appreciate your comments. When I was at PEC LA last year, I tried a few of the seat combo and the 14-way is just fine for me. You'll also notice that I don't have ventilated seats and that's based on a Murray video recommendation that the system changes the comfort of all seats. So I hear you, seating is indeed important - I think this is the right combo for me.

Both of the options you mentioned are indeed close seconds to my current choices. But I love detailing my own car (have tons of tools/solvents for that) so spending time cleaning wheels is no big deal to me, just more therapy

Black with colored seatbelts was definitely part of an earlier build. But, no offense to anyone, that combo is played out for GR - its seems like EVERY owner has gone for the black with matching seat belts. Same goes for the yellow owners.

I followed a lot of the Murrary suggestions. I mistook the ugly ACC nub for being part of the Surround View and skipped it. Yes, the sensors are great but I wonder if Surround View would also be useful. I also agree to skip the folding mirrors. Murray detests the Aerokit, but in truth if you can get it and like it, it does look good (except that like him I don't care for the high plate cutout of the rear sport design bumper). But I will say I have ventilated seats and don't find them uncomfortable. A lot of folks get them, and I think they are nice to have.

When I started this process and discovered these boards, I promised myself two things:
  1. I'm not going to be the guy calling his SA every day making changes
  2. I'm not going to be the guy tracking the cargo ship on a daily basis and posting about it
I'm not looking to make this a stressful process. I want to set my options now and then just let everything else happen as the Universe wants it to be As I said, I'm being realistic and this car won't be here until next Summer and that's OK.

Yes I said the same thing but I made 4 or 5 changes in 3 months I had before the freeze point. On the last day before freeze I added black leather with chalk stitching, 930 leather package. YOLO

Nice changes. I think you're right, those Carerra Classics look pretty good on the car! I might have to take a second look at that since they are about half the Tubo wheel cost.

I have slate full leather with chalk stitching and it's fantastic. Either way you go on the interior, I definitely recommend the full leather option as you'll appreciate it every time you're in the car. Most of us try to keep the cost within our budget, so perhaps picking a different wheel option will offset some of the cost of full leather.

I'm sure you've considered the Premium Package already, but it's only ~$1k more and includes PDLS+, ventilated seats, and ambient lighting - something to consider unless you're fully against ventilated seats, which would be helpful in Vegas. Perhaps I'll see you around, we'll be back out there in a couple of years.

Nice build, I'm confident you'll be happy once it arrives!
