PEC Silverstone - C2S
So last week I did the PEC at Silverstone in the S. First time I had driven one and here are my takeaways.
In summary, the car was amazing. Launch control had me thinking I was sat aboard a SpaceX departure, it was phenomenal. And those brakes! Heavens above did they stop the car. It didn't matter what I did, raced or drove it leisurely, when I stopped, the car just purred and was ready for more.
Now I am NEVER going to drive my car like I drove this one but knowing what it is capable of is a jaw dropping experience. I told my consultant (on a number of occasions), that the car was a missile, just so, so fast and it handled so well in turns that I didn't really have to try or exert myself. I also got a valuable lesson in the use of ABS brakes; who knew!
Overall the day was fantastic, from tootling around at low speed to racing like a loon there was no drama, the ice hill was testing and the car performed better than I did, the kick plate was a lesson in driving, my consultant was superb, knowledgeable and helpful, and the car, well, I'm just so glad I have one on order.
- It's a missile
- The brakes stopped the car on a sixpence
- I thought my brain was coming out of my head
- My face ached from smiling
- It sticks to the road like you know what to a blanket
- It's easy to drive and handles superb
- ABS - now I know exactly what it does

It didn't no, but I did enquire about it with the consultant. He basically said that you only notice the benefit when parking at very low speeds. You won't feel or see any benefit during normal driving or even on the track, but at low speed, it does make a difference.
It truly is an experience that’s for sure!
Did mine in August, Mike was my instructor, giant of a Yorkshireman.
Yes to the brakes, yes to the abs lane changing, yes to the ice hill and kick plate (most of the kick plate we came at from the side, simulating turning out of a corner and having to get the power down fast to get a move on), yes to launch control.
BUT my favourite bit was hammering around the two tracks. I found the larger track tricky on the bit just before the escape lane with the sharp right getting into position was tough, braking at speed whilst turning and when to get the power on.
The smaller track (with the runways in the middle) it was the furthest corner near where they store the cars, hard to get the right approach angle to launch down the straight.
Food was great too, definitely going back again, Silverstone is about a 2hr drive for me but all in so worth it.

Although these experiences don’t hit the main circuit, you can book the more advanced courses, costing from £750 upwards, of which as the prices goes up so does the Silverstone track time

It is great to be able to scratch more than the surface of the cars abilities. Very difficult to get close on the road.
I had a fantastic time, they are just so unbelievably quick.
One does wonder where the cars on the day end up though! In the dealer network I suppose.
Makes you think twice about purchasing that 5 month old car with 1,000 miles on the clock. One careful owner!?
I would never drive my car like that. Having said that, that is what they are made for.

I was so impressed with the tyres. Having raced it around the track, stopping on a sixpence, I thought when I got back the tyres would be ragged and rough and the brakes would be on fire but there was nothing. It was just as though I had come back from a visit to the shops for some milk!
Such a capable car. I think like you I need to go again
