Chalk is amazing, but it is just so hard to pay 3 grand for f'ing paint.
I agree for the most part - but it's Porsche - not much you can do about it.
I remember when GT Silver came out (CGT) and then opened to the rest of Porsche models. It was a special ~$3k paint at that time. Just about everyone on Rennlist thought it was some special paint that had some sort of unobtanium metal/formula to it and was "totally" worth $3k - because it was a better paint compared to all other colors. At the time I simply said it was a silver paint with a different formula compared to Arctic silver and wasn't a better paint compared to anything else - just a different shade of silver. You would have thought I said the earth was flat to most of Rennlist buyers of GT Silver. Turns out - it's just another silver - nothing special about it - unless it's the color you like most
Another pix of SB in full sunlight - a very good representation of it....looks very close to Voodoo Blue which would be a PTS ~$13K - I guess you could call it a bargain then??

I have 2 chalk cars and 1 shark blue on order so I like how you think. Both are great colors, but chalk is definitely more of a classic color going back to the 356 in Heron grey.
Chalk is not even a color - its a shade of gray. It's a novelty and it will wear off soon enough. After painting enough motorcycles in my past, all I see is light gray paint primer with a coat of gloss. But that is just me and I respect the Chalk fans out there.
I was all set for Chalk, but there are so many cool goodies you can get with the $3,200 and still get a nice GT Silver, Black, Aventurine, etc. I think it's the one main change i'm about to make. That being said, I still think it's a beautiful color.
FWIW, I ordered my GT3 in Shark Blue. Car should be here next week.
please post photos of your Shark Blue as soon as you can. I am down to decision time on my GT4 order and I still have not been able to see Shark Blue in person. Even as a sample at the dealership.
Those are some polar opposite choices for sure. There are quite a few chalk Porsches where I live. Mostly Cayennes, Mayans, and Panameras. When I saw it on the config I was sold until I saw it in person. I don’t care for warm grey and it looks warm to me. It looks great at dusk on the right build but in my opinion it visually blows out all the curves in the bright sun. Makes a base Cayenne look Ike a loaf of bread. I wish it was a more of a cool grey in a slightly darker shade. I think it looks good with a high contrast build but in a line up of other cars it just blends in as much as and white or silver. I have seen a 911 or two that it looks fantastic on. There is someone here that built their car with brown interior and it looks like a desert you want to take a bite out of. I haven’t seen shark blue in person but there was a ’20 corvette running around on Maui in a similar shade blue the last time I was there and when it was driving around it was the only car you were looking at. What does classic mean to you? When I think of certain cars I think of certain colors. Either way I think its a win.

My understanding is that the Cayenne, Macan, Panamera version of Chalk is darker / warmer, than the 911 version. Not sure, but my SA and other info I have seen indicate they are not quite the same color despite the name, and seeing Chalk on something other than a 992 is not an accurate representation.

That is entirely possible it does look very warm on Cayenne.

Lots of great pictures over in the 992 GT3 Forum. Here's one to get you started:
I had the same dilemma between chalk and shark blue. I ordered my car in SB since I’m tired or monochrome colors :-)
my previous 911s were agate grey or black. But those I bought used and therefore colors choice is made by the first time buyer so I took what available :-)
