Default Knocking sound from front

Going over uneven terrain (gravel road) I've been getting more and more a knocking sound cominfg from what seems to be the center front of the dash - sort of there or behind where the sport chrono is. The sound is like the shorting of a radio or circuit, it diminishes and goes away once you're on a paved road. Looked inside the frunk, underneath and can't find anything. Any ideas as to what it could be? TIA

I’d pull the rear cover off in the Frunk. Take a look at the Tire Air Compressor in its box, the Battery mounting, the Theft Alarm Horn mounting, etc. I’d not ignore the possibility that a rock has found its way into the upper area here or lower down where the steering rack is located. Given where you live this might actually be a very real possibility. I grew up in a part of Pennsylvania where the Jeff Foxworthy comment; “If the directions to your home include the words, After you turn off the paved road . . . “ So I grew up with some of these sorts of noises and their cause.

Thanx! Will get on that tomorrow and report back. I did do a cursory check today as I rewired the CTEK so I wouldn't have to keep taking off the shroud and didn't notice anything. I'll let you know. Thanx again!

So no debris or other visible from the top with shroud removed. Air compressor location was still in it's pouch with nothing in the container, no apparent debris near or on steering shaft or battery receptacle. CTek cables are all snug and disconnected end is tucked in the tire repair niche (made a small cut-out on the shroud so as not to pinch the cable coming from the battery terminals and taped some sponge/felt material to protect it from the bottom of the shroud).

On bottom on sides of fuel tank (mostly driver's side), removed some hard silt and small pebbles came out (shooting compressed air helped loosen them) but nothing the size that would cause such noise IMHO. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet now that I've cleaned out the bottom but will be going into town tomorrow and will post. Thanx for any other ideas

My first 992 had a front end clunk going up driveways at an angle. Since I coudnt replicate it with the foreman in the passenger seat, they refused to do anything about it. Weeks later... my PDK leaked and they bought back the car. I always wondered what that clunk I heard was.

This is level or incline and goes away on non gravel (smooth) roads. The rock/pebble sounds like a reasonable cause given it's in the middle upper area of the frunk and sounds like when you ground a live wire repeatedly. I'll hopefully know more tomorrow. Thanx Bigworm
