USA used car prices flattened out in June, but are 34.3% higher than the previous June, 2020.

Wait until you see the 992 GT3's coming in and the for sale threads. If people on RL went ballistic before with the flipping, watch out and hold on to your LWB's. The flipping for those that got MSRP allocations will be real. Wait and see how many post they had no idea the GT3 didn't have back seats for their kids

Doubtful anyone (without a huge purchase history) is getting a GT3 without an ADM...dealer may promise that when getting on "the list", but once the number comes there will be an ADM.

Was in Las Vegas a few weekends ago and the wife wanted to look at a new summer purse. Went to 2 Louis Vuitton stores and they had no inventory. Sales lady said you need to be in line when they open to get a purse that came in the night before, crazy.

I suspect that the ones getting GT3s at sticker are not typically going to be the ones flipping. Not unless they are flipping it back to the dealer.

These are 911's, hardly rare at all and if anyone jumps in at those prices it their issue when they go to sell it. I don't have a problem with someone asking for that price I do think anyone that pays because they can wait a few months is nuts.

I have a TTS allocation for fall. i was figuring on selling my highly optioned 992 c4s in september. With the crazy pricing i am considered selling early and being without for a 911 for 6 to 8 months. I didn't create the market, but will certainly share in exploiting it!!

Meanwhile I was feeling salty i got "just" $10k off MSRP (Can assume it was sold below that) a used 2020 CS @3.7k miles last week. For once it sure feels like I won at car purchasing.

Shoot, if i can sell mine to offset the ADM on GT3, I will be stoked, i will settle for 60% off. - Question is, would i sell?

Going through PCA classifieds and someone is offering a 2021 Targa 4S with MSRP of 154K for 199K. Really? Really?
At this point is anyone with a Porsche just throwing out ridiculous numbers in the hope that they will score big?
Is it even worth responding to ads to people that are so lacking in reality - I understand wanting to make money on your purchase, I understand selling for more than you bought it for but 33% really?
Seems like you're upset by this guy's ad. Why is that? Does it really matter that he is posting a price higher than what you think is reasonable? If you don't like the price or don't think he won't negotiate, just ignore his ad.

As for whether it's worth responding to, I would say yes. Make what you think is a reasonable opening offer if you're interested in the car. You do not know what his bottomline price is and the amount you are willing to pay may intersect with the amt he's willing to sell. If you don't make any offer, you will never know.

But still, no need to be upset or indignant about what people choose to price their products. If it's too high, the market will tell him that right away and on and on for months as his car remains unsold and he lowers the price. If the car sells quickly, then you know there's a new market price for the product. Either way, it's fine. See above discussion from drcollie re: Rolexes and manual 599s. Yes, I know a Targa 4S is not as rare of a product, but the same concept holds true. People think standard 911s should not have any ADM. As shortages continue, people are willing to pay some ADM and the ADM may go up more or come back to your reality depending on supply and demand. That's just the way things work.

I've just found a 2016 911 R with an original MSRP of $213,000 on sale for $498,000!! Is the 911 R anywhere near that rare and special?

...and that same car was going for about MSRP maybe $10K more 1 year ago. That is the craziness right now. I'd be a seller all day long.

It is somewhat rare - only 991 were made and was quite special as Porsche had stopped building manual GT3s... until the 991.2 GT3 and GT3 touring came out with the return of the manual transmission. The 911R top price actually hit over $500K but has since dropped significantly... then rebounded recently along w/ all 911s and other cars.

As for the current listed $498K price, see my above post. It doesn't really matter what one lists their car for. It will either be sold or it won't. This link says the current avg price has been in the $400K to $500K range over the past 2-3 months.

That’s not a bad deal for a 911R. Car would not exist without Jerry Seinfeld. We wouldn’t have the GT3 Touring without it.

Paying a premium for a car blessed/created by a comedian or clown makes no sense to me. Now if were respected racing driver...
