Default Things to come

Good day All,

Some interesting reading. I did hear a while back that the 992 was engineering from the start to accommodate some form of hybrid power...Upcoming Hybrid?

Thanks,

P

And then people will long for the good old days of 3.0 turbo...

I thought I read some posts in the past that they had cancelled plans for a hybrid and are waiting for the 992 successor. The space is still there so maybe they are doing a 992.2 hybrid after all.

It was planned into the 992 design to support hybrid from the get-go, there’s absolutely no reason to think it wouldn’t be introduced before the next generation 911. It’ll be interesting but I’m sure it’ll be an amazing set up nonetheless.

Same here. If that was an option today it would be my top choice.

You can expect the first 992 Hybrid to be slotted above the Turbo S. That may well be the last 992.1 to drop before we get to the 992.2.
I don't think we're going to see a Hybrid Carrera until the 922.2 refresh and I wouldn't be surprised for it to be a plug-in hybrid.

Is there any chance of a hybrid Carrera with MT? My assumption would be that it’s not possible to combine a hybrid electric motor with a manual transmission but I’m no engineer.

That'd be my best guess as well. Apparently there is a black Test Mule 992 dressed in TT bodywork running around Nürburgring with a yellow sticker on the back window. Such stickers are required of hybrid or full electric vehicles.
See the Autocar magazine article here: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...ts-nurburgring

If you think the market is crazy now - used Ferrari's with manual gearboxes going for $600K, the 993 air cooled cars - just wait until the EU bans all ICE engines, and watch what happens to the general market for pre-owned ICE cars.

It could become increasingly difficult to keep an internal combustion car because of progressively increasing gas tax, or making it increasingly difficult to pass smog inspection, or other methods of punishing antisocial people who dare to drive an ICE vehicle.
Prices could go down if governments make it really difficult to keep using an internal combustion engine.
I'm really curious to see how this all plays out!

I can’t think of a better environment to be a buyer of pre-owned ICE cars in the U.S. than if the EU decided to ban all ICE engines, as you say. Supply overkill.
